Notability
[edit]This article, which I've just created is needed as articles on flag of convenience, narco submarine, etc. etc. refer to a ship being registered in a country, but give no information about registration. Knowing nothing about it, I have done no more than a minimal stub. Pol098 (talk) 09:07, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- The common and legal term used is Maritime flag, which implies documented registration.

Under what circumstances does a vessel need registration?
[edit]A rowing boat on a pond doesn't need registration, a supertanker sailing internationally does. What are the criteria and the limits? What about oil rigs and the like? Pol098 (talk) 14:18, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Certificate of Registry
[edit]Upon registering a "Certificate of Registry" is delivered to the ship. Might be worth mentioning in the article. The exact name of the certificate differs from flag state to flag state. Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 00:37, 22 February 2013 (UTC)
