[edit]

Image:Sky News Business.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merger discussion (September 2018)

[edit]
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was not to merge. -- Whats new?(talk) 06:30, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Apart from ownership change, and slight change in programming format, the channel is simply changing name from Sky News Business to Your Money. It's a kind of 'Everything is the same, except the name' situation. So I believe both article should merge. (Though, you can say Extra is closing to make way for the DTT carriage of Your Money.) JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 14:17, 29 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I see your point, but I disagree that this is a simple change of name. Your Money is a joint-venture, its primetime programming is different, its channel focus (outside of trading hours) has changed from corporate business speak to consumer lifestyle, its distribution is different (available as an FTA channel and a free online stream), and its corporate structure is different (new CEO, directors, etc). Numerous reliable sources show that Sky News Business "finished broadcasting" and closed down ahead of Your Money launching. [1] [2] [3] [4] In short, while they share similarities, it is not a rebrand according to sources. Therefore, I don't think this article and Your Money should merge. -- Whats new?(talk) 02:07, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Did third-party sources say Sky News Business "finished broadcasting"? Isn't it because many of them were simply copy-pasting press releases? Shouldn't we follow what is actually happening, rather than what is being advertised? JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 11:50, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree per @Whats new?. Your Money is a new joint venture between Australian News Channel (owners of Sky News) and Nine Entertainment Company. Though some content is similar to the old Sky News Business channel, programming-wise and legally, this is a new, separate, joint-venture channel that is replacing the old one; I would argue that is "what is actually happening". – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 07:33, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
DTT carriage aside, the channel still occupies Foxtel channel 601. Wasn't it immediately rebranded from Sky News Business to Your Money? Does anyone have changeover videos of both Foxtel 601 and DTT 85? JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 10:21, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
A seemingly seamless transition would be expected since the channel was replaced in full and was planned for months. Not to mention the fact that Business programming would be formally wrapped before the launch of Your Money regardless. This still neglects the fact that the channels are under different ownership and have been stated by both Sky and Nine that Your Money is a new channel that has replaced Sky News Business, and is not a rebranded channel. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 13:18, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The changeover between channels doesn't prove anything anyway. Even if Sky News Business was replaced with a sports channel or a heavy metal music channel, it would still occupy channel 601. Under that logic, Sky Sport or Sky Heavy Metal would just be a rebrand. What matters more, in my opinion, is ownership structure, corporate level changes (CEO, directors, etc.) and sources stating the channel is a replacement of SNB and Extra, not a rebrand of both. -- Whats new?(talk) 00:14, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is how I understand the situation: Sky News Business was rebranded as Your Money; Extra as a TV channel ceased operation, and is now simply relaying Your Money on DTT. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 15:58, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And sources identify the situation as both Sky News Business and Extra ceasing operation, with both channel spaces occupied by the newly launched channel Your Money. -- Whats new?(talk) 23:30, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
According the the second reference from Whats new's comment above, Sky Business stopped broadcasting at 8.30pm on Saturday September 29, and Your Money began at 6am Monday October 1. I remember looking at the channel on Sunday and seeing it was just a constant run of ads saying that "a new channel" called Your Money was starting "tomorrow". It was the same on Channel 95 on that Sunday. – numbermaniac 05:23, 4 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to ping @ViperSnake151: who is an expert on channel rebrands here. Hope Viper can provide an opinion that will direct how to handle this case. Also, I found out that Your Money's business bulletins are presented from the former studio of Sky News Business. JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 07:33, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Personally I'd merge. ViperSnake151  Talk  14:50, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Judging from how Numbermaniac described things, despite the fact that Your Money have inherited studio from Sky News Business, and that it occupies the same Foxtel channel number, I will have to conclude that Sky News Business and Your Money are indeed separate channels. May I call for an end of this merger discussion? JSH-alive/talk/cont/mail 09:29, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
