Identity[edit]

What makes him a "pretender to the throne" and not King? Is this simply by decree of the Communist government? It would seem to me that if he's the grandson of the former king and there's no one else on the throne, then he's the legitimate heir and therefore king, and not a pretender. This should perhaps be more explicitly explained in the article. Thank you. LordAmeth 15:32, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Historical Transparency[edit]

Lao history is complicated by the fact that three (3) kingdoms once existed-Luang Phrabang, Champasak and Viang Chan. Before suzerainty to Siam each of these kingdoms had their own royal families. He is simply one heir from one family. sammlea 11 September 2007. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sammlea (talkcontribs) 03:49, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, alright. Thank you. LordAmeth 21:30, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is he under regency? --Civis (talk) 13:26, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"King of Laos"[edit]

Wouldn't calling Soulivong Savang "king" be inaccurate? He is clearly not king, but a pretender. Or perhaps "King of the RLGE" would be most accurate? KetchupSalt (talk) 08:13, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I went with the latter. KetchupSalt (talk) 13:32, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
