Notability
[edit]A user has chosen to nominate this article for speedy deletion. While any user is free to take such a move, the nomination is in violation of the speedy criteria, since the article clearly states that the company operates 60–70 ships, totaling 3 million deadweight tonnes. This makes it one of the largest open-hatch operators in the world. Had the nominator bothered to do a simple news check, Google News would provide 878 hits, and a search in Norwegian media a further 70 hits. Please do us all a favor and not waste our time by taking this clear case to an AfD after the speedy tag has been removed. Thank you, and happy editing. Arsenikk (talk) 14:19, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- It is encyclopedic and notable in the most literal sense possible in that Store norske leksikon covers it. If anyone tries AFDing in the face of evidence like that, it will probably get speedy kept very quickly. Needless to say: speedy deletion declined. Sjakkalle (Check!) 15:57, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Accuracy (currency)
[edit]The page needs a significant update and/or replacement. The two founding companies have ended their joint venture, apparently splitting resources, with Grieg retaining the Star Shipping name (it now appears on their website as Grieg Star Shipping.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ed416 (talk • contribs) 21:37, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Added info for revision of article
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
As mentioned earlier: This article about Star Shipping is not accurate, and should be updated, replaced or a new article added.
Star Shipping was a company founded in 1961 ([1] and http://www.wlshipping.com/en/about/history.php</ref)).
The founding partners ended their joint venture in 2009. ([2] and [3])
The Grieg Group retained the name Star Shipping, and the group’s shipping activity is now organised under the name Grieg Star ([4])
Grieg Star is a fully integrated shipping company, based in Bergen, Norway, and is part of the privately owned Grieg Group ([5]) . Grieg Star operates between 35 and 40 ships, most of them owned by the company, both open hatch and conventional bulk carriers. Grieg Star also own Squamish Terminals ([6]) in British Columbia. Operating worldwide, the company have offices in USA, Canada, Europe, Asia and South America.
The logo used in the article is the logo of the old Star Shipping. Grieg Star has another logo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sveinungtvedt (talk • contribs) 13:25, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Update
[edit]I have updated and added better references to this article. I have no doubt that it could be much expanded and improved by someone with wider access to shipping/commercial press and literature (much of which is behind pay-walls). As a globally-operating shipping company that has been a leader for over 50 years and is now part of the largest in its sector, I have no doubt that it meets notability criteria. The three templates have therefore been removed.
In the meantime, I have left the article at "Star Shipping", the original business, and to which "Grieg Star Shipping" redirects. Davidships (talk) 13:42, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
