Caption

[edit]

The caption for the first picture states that Sinuhe heard that there was a plot to assassinate the new Pharaoh Senoswret, after the assassination of his father, Amenemhet. This should be changed. It is not an implausible interpretation of the sequence of events, but it is not directly stated in the Tale of Sinuhe (where the blame is placed firmly on the irrationality of the heart, see Pharaohs closing speech). It also contradicts what is written in the wikipedia article further down the page. Just a thought. Still very new to Wikipedia so will let someone who can do it without the possibility of accidental damage to the page but it should be changed. Thanks! How to pronounce "Sinuhe"?

[edit]

I did not see this in the article. Any known suggestions? 99.40.50.242 (talk) 22:43, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately ancient Egyptian is a dead language, making it very hard to offer a correct pronunciation. I would recommend withdrawing any request for a pronunciation. Kunoichi.au (talk) 06:41, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sinuhe and Hyksos

[edit]

Would it be a good idea to have a picture from the well known tomb at Beni Hasan of the Nomarch Khnumhotep III showing the Amu who formed part of the "Hikau-khoswet" (Princes of the Desert Uplands/Rulers of Foreign Countries) from which, possibly, was derived Manetho's term Hyksos ? It crops up not only in accounts dealing with Sinuhe, see Cambridge Ancient History Guide II P.1. page 55, but in theories relating to the The Exodus debate, see the Egyptologist John Romer's book "Testament", p.45 and in the The Bible Unearthed, p.54. Egyptian Shakespeare

[edit]

Like a good deal of hyperbole this description is not helpful. Sinuhe is a good story and the obscurity surrounding his hasty departure and lengthy flight allows the reader ample opportunity for speculation, much in the same way as the anonymity of the story writer and the device of including a pseudo-realistic decree from the king of Eygpt (who rather strangely is given the nomen Amenemhet instead of Sesostris) enabling Sinuhe to return to Egypt(Pamour (talk) 16:32, 31 January 2017 (UTC)).[reply]

Translation needed from German.

[edit]

The german wikipedia has it as a FA class article, and thus we need it to be translated. I don't know yet how to translate yet though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jishiboka1 (talkcontribs) 00:16, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
