Counter-movie does not belong. It is produced by "Bismika Allahuma: Muslim Responses to Distortions of Islam by Christian Missionaries and their Allies". Additionally, compare to the Farenheit 911 page for treatment of counter-movies to controversial movies (they are not on the article page). I will wait for comments for one day and then delete.

Also the word "Submission" is a literal translation of "Islam", not "Muslim" [1]. Reverted. ObsidianOrder 12:53, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Greetings, where do you suggest that the entry for the counter-movie to "Submission" to belong then? I think it is only fair that this movie is mentioned Menj 08:22, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Perhaps a one-line entry under see-also, unless you want to start a separate page for "Submission (movie) controversy". Please attribute the source of the counter-movie correctly. P.S. Perhaps I should have said "doesn't deserve a full section" instead of "doesn't belong". Yeah, it is fair it should be mentioned (briefly). ObsidianOrder 10:08, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
[edit]

The link to 'Submission' (Part 1) online is misleading. It implies the entire film can be downloaded at that URL but that is not the case ; only a very brief 3 minute sample is available there.

Wrong sentence with POV

[edit]

I think this sentence : The film's title is a direct translation of the word "Islam". .. represents nopv and mistake in the translation .

actually arabic language has another world for Submission which is الخضوع ... I have explained that many times ... Isalm means exactly is to go freely and peacefully with god's will ... إسلام is derived from the word "سلام" which means "Peace" --Chaos 17:27, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not according to Islam#Etymology it isn't. Step 1: find some reputable references. Step 2: cite them in the Islam article and change the article accordingly. Step 3: when the dust settles, check back here. Shinobu 22:22, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cast

[edit]

I have been looking around for the cast on many websites and still haven't seen any credits that include the actresses in the film. All I see attributed to it are Van Gogh and Ali. Does anyone have any information on the names of the actresses?--76.203.75.227 04:58, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as stub, and the rating on other projects was brought up to Stub class. BetacommandBot 04:28, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed a link to a Google Video, because of copyright problem. It's not allowed to link to a copyright violation. Simply Google Video is an open website, which includes many and many violations. I think there is no reason to keep that violation, so, I'll remove it in next few days. By the way, thanks to E dog95 who applied good faith--OsamaK 14:00, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

search list

[edit]

When searching for sumbission this video comes up as "Submission (2004 film), a 2004 Dutch short pornographic film"... This is not a pornographic film...Jb4733a (talk) 14:47, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hirsi Ali's Flight out of the Netherlands due to threats

[edit]

"Due to the film, director van Gogh was assassinated by a Muslim extremist. Hirsi Ali had to flee the Netherlands and remains under constant protection"

When reading above sentence one gets the impression that Hirsi Ali left the Netherlands to save her life from Islamic assassination attempts. This is not true. Hirsi Ali left the Netherlands because she committed fraud on her Asylum application, which was found out by a TV program called Zembla and the consequent stripping of her Dutch Citizenship by Minister Rita Verdonk.

It would be illogical for her to leave the Netherlands because of the threats. First of all she was fighting Islam which she considered an evil and oppresive ideology, accepting the threats and the possibility of an assassination attempt. Secondly her leaving the Netherlands would not make her safer at all. Muslims live everywhere in the World and she would be not less of a target in the US. She would be even less save in the US because as a member of Dutch Parliament she had personal security, paid for by the Dutch government. In the US she would either have to go without Personal Security or pay for it herself.

Furthermore, she stated herself that the reason for resigning immediately was not the continuous threats, making her job as a parliamentarian "difficult" but "not impossible", but the news that the Minister would strip her of her Dutch citizenship. Her resignation and departure from the Netherlands are therefore not related to this film but to the fraud committed on her Asylum apllication.

You would have to nuance the use of the word "fraud". Ayaan Hirsi Ali explains that she misrepresented her name, used her grandfather's first name, so she could not be traced back to her vindictive family. She had no true criminal intent and demonstrated positive contribution to Dutch society. Officials charged her with literal fraud, but with regret! 66.241.130.86 (talk) 19:09, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
