Vesi

[edit]

Vesi's tribe color is red, not orange. I'm not sure why it's a dark orange here. 2601:204:2:3AD6:61E9:DF6B:6818:FD2C (talk) 19:54, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated it with an accessibility-compliant shade of red. Bgsu98 (talk) 22:00, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've changed Vesi's tribe color to a shade of red that is still accessibility-compliant, while also being a more accurate depiction of its true color. The previous shade of "red" used was too dark and started to look more purple than red. Sebonack1 (talk) 07:32, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The color you chose does meet accessibility, so thank you! Bgsu98 (talk) 20:08, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Colors

[edit]

"Information cannot be conveyed by color alone", Okay fair enough. That doesn't mean "Remove colors". What's the issue with leaving the colors in the voting results table, making it more visually appealing and easier to read for most readers? 2604:3D08:7481:AF00:ADE9:C113:A395:4A3F (talk) 02:02, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly! The recent coloring changes made over the past several months have merely been an overreaction by editors who don't understand the purpose of accessibility rules. As long as color alone isn't conveying info in any section, then what's wrong with decorating the tables with many colors? Greggens (talk) 19:09, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's conflicting as the color has been removed from the voting table but is retained in the episode guide? Pick a lane. 82.24.78.193 (talk) 12:38, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gaia tribe colour

[edit]

Is it turquoise or light green??

It’s turquoise QUEKM2009 (talk) 05:22, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How many episodes those survivor 43 has?

[edit]

Some said 13, some said 14. Actually, there are 14 (including after show) QUEKM2009 (talk) 05:08, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Season Summary table

[edit]

What's the point in having a table like this if it's just going to be impossible to navigate for readers? It used to be clear and concise, same thing with the voting history table when individual castaways' votes were colored based on the tribe they were on, but now it's a hassle just to read the information. Just get rid of them entirely at this point; another thing is they technically qualify as spoilers for those who haven't seen the season.2601:5CD:C200:D7A0:14B0:1C02:AF4:BDA (talk) 19:00, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

They also used to be a big ol' mass of not accessible table. Wikipedia doesn't cover over spoilers. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 19:04, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decision game

[edit]

Should be on the table as they had an impact on the game and were shown in the episodes. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 00:21, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Then some clarifying notes need to be added, because it's incomprehensible as is. Bgsu98 (Talk) 00:41, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Something being shown in episodes is hardly an inclusion criteria. Pure WP:CRUFT Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 01:09, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Those tables are meant to be accessible to the average, casual viewer. What did the player win? What did they lose? What was the game? Some of those are not games; Cody having to choose the winner of the breathing challenge was not a game. That column is incomprehensible without a lot of explanatory notes that are missing. I'm a pretty devout viewer, and even I have no idea what's going on. Bgsu98 (Talk) 02:12, 28 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary key

[edit]

I really don't understand why there needs to be a key above the contestants table. What information does this key bring exactly? That yellow stands for "Baka", blue stands for "Coco", red stands for "Vesi", and turquoise stands for "Gaia"... in a table where all of the yellow cells already read "Baka", all of the blue cells read "Coco", and so on.

I know about web accessibility and there's nothing in MOS:ACCESS that recommends this kind of key. Accessibility does not mean throwing a key at every little detail, it has to be done with the purpose of making articles understandable to more users. And who exactly does this key help? If someone can't understand the meaning of the cells on their own, making a "key" that just repeats the contents of the cells will not help them in any way. From an accessibility point of view, this key does not accomplish anything.

Color keys are needed when the colors are used to convey information, and the criteria for "Do these colors convey information?" is "Does removing the colors make the page less understandable?" If yes, then a key is needed (and also an alternative way of conveying that information should be implemented), if not then a key is superfluous. And the contestants table clearly fits the second category. The colors are purely cosmetic and if you take them out, the table is understandable just the same, so a key is unnecessary.

The only aspect of these colors that could be a problem for accessibility is if the contrast between the text and the colors is not high enough. But if that's the case, the way to solve it is to change the colors to a compliant tone, not to add a key. 2A01:CB0C:8A2:FE00:8D01:596C:B83D:AFDF (talk) 16:18, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So, what's the point of the colour in the table at all? Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 17:56, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Future appearances

[edit]

This section refers only to castaways who make future appearances on Survivor, not other media. No one reading this article cares if a player from this season was later seen on The Challenge, The Amazing Race, Judge Alex, a Rob Schneider movie, etc. This article is about Survivor, so please, stick to Survivor. Greggens (talk) 19:53, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DVD cover

[edit]

I have uploaded DVD covers of Survivor 41, 42 and 43 and for some reason they keep being deleted when made the infobox. I understand that you may personally find the logo more aesthetically pleasing but for consistency's sake, doesn't it make more sense to have the DVD covers like literally every other season?

The files can be found here: File:Survivor 41 dvd region 1 season forty-one.png, File:Survivor 42 dvd region 1 season forty-two.png, File:Survivor 43 dvd region 1 season forty-three.png

Thecheeseistalking99 (talk) 10:58, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Whilst I don't personally have any opinions on whether a logo or a DVD cover is better for these articles (although a quick look, these all look very generic), you can't just upload images under fair use like this. Unless there is a very good reason, we generally keep fair use images to one item an article (maximum), as our copyright rules are quite strict. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 11:05, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think the logos should be put back in the infoboxes, since they are actually seen consistently throughout the season (buffs, signs, etc) while the season 41+ DVD covers are generic like Lee said and have no connection to the season at all. Seasons 1–40 used to have their logos too, but they all mysteriously disappeared one day. Maybe we should revert all of them back? Future Chromatica (talk) 03:12, 28 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress
