Requested move 31 January 2020[edit]

No consensus. There is no clear consensus for the proposed move, after extended time for discussion. There is also an open question of whether the proposal applies to the single article named, or the small set of nearly identical articles noted, or to a larger subset of articles, or to all articles containing the phrase "Men's Singles" (without even broaching the question of "Women's Singles" or any kind of "Doubles"). There aren't thousands. There is one. Maybe we could find a few more that should be fixed (especially as new 2020 ones are created), but by and large the WP:OLY project has managed to consistently name these articles. -- Jonel (Speak to me) 11:56, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - this would bring a lack of WP:CONSISTENCY with all other tennis tournament articles, e.g. 2019 Wimbledon Championships – Men's Singles, 2020 Australian Open – Men's Singles. The other Olympics tennis tournaments were recently moved without discussion and should also be moved back. Either all such articles should be proposed for move, with participation from WikiProject tennis, or none should. — Amakuru (talk) 10:11, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - I'm not sure if this is more under Olympic Project or Tennis Project jurisdiction. No matter... While I do agree that Olympic articles are a completely different thing than tennis articles, I have a big problem with this move request... sourcing. Why the heck would anyone want to use the term "Men's singles", capitalizing only "Men's"? In seeing hundreds of sources through the years I quite often see "Men's Singles", which Tennis Project has endorsed, and also both terms lower cased "men's singles."
