Great work

Great work, Adam. Readable, full of interest, to the point and (so far as my limited knowledge of Australian history can confirm), very well-balanced. An important topic well-covered. Tannin 10:09, 22 Sep 2003 (UTC)

As I recall, Newsweek forms a separate section within The Bulletin in Australia, New Zealand and some other Pacific countries. The masthead usually says 'THE BULLETIN with Newsweek'. More readable than Newsweek, though. Boffin 22:35, 3 July 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Other uses

At present searching on Wikipedia for "bulletin" brings up only this entry, but this is a specific magazine - what about other uses of the word such as bulletin (discussion) board and a report from a battle or similar? I lack the Wikiknowledge to arrange this so would be happy for others to do it. --Thoughtcat 06:48, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cancellation

The Bulletin appears to have been cancelled. ABC radio and Sky News are reporting it's been cancelled "as of the current issue". I can't find an online copy of the press release Jon Faine read out on air a few minutes ago, and I'll leave it to others to add to the article, but it's certainly a significant day in Australian media history. there may yet be some developments with the SMH reporting Kerry Stoke's Channel 7 may be interested in buying the magazine [1]. The Bulletin → The Bulletin (Australian magazine) – There is half a zillion publications with the name of The Bulletin, not to mention those titled Bulletin. Provisional support: It is primary topic, but it's not primary enough (easier to see with logarithmic box ticked). Dates range for Editors

While the work is great in showing us the names of editors, as a quick reference to discover who was editor of what, when? it would be really great if someone would indicate such next to the editors names. Demise

No mention of Time magazine's fierce competition for Australian readers and advertisers. Time was streets ahead for international news and culture, and may be the reason The Bulletin brought in (the inferior) Newsweek. Time, if I remember right, had a brighter layout and smoother paper, and was determinedly witty. The Bulletin was doggedly anti-labour and pro-investor, or speculator rather, epitomised by the two best-written columns: The Modest Farmer (Bert Kelly) and "pip pip" Pierpont (Trevor Sykes). As for the internet being responsible for The Bulletin's downfall, I'd be surprised. Speculators were receiving stock market information by dial-up in the early eighties, but not general readers.
