William Oldys the editor, not Johnson

The attribution for this article needs to be updated to reflect the fact that William Oldys is the compiler and editor of the Harleian Miscellany, and not Samuel Johnson. Henry Savage writes: "The Harleian Miscellany of tracts and pamphlets selected from the library of Edward Harley, 2nd Earl of Oxford, by William Oldys, his secretary, and with an Introduction by Dr. Johnson, was first published in eight volumes 8to. during the years 1744-46." This attribution can be confirmed by consulting any modern bibliographic record of the work. I leave it to those more familiar with Oldys to write the correction, and fill out the biographical information.

Different editions and volumes

This article should go into the three different editions of the Harleian Miscellany. Also, complete sets of all editions have been digitized; I've written a short blog post, http://alsatia.org.uk/site/2013/11/harleian-miscellany/ giving digital copies for each volume of the three editions. Should each individual volume be linked from the page? At any rate, my own work so I must let someone else decide how to use it. ;)

I may be wrong but I don't think blogs are allowed as sources. But you definitely have done a valuable service in finding and listing the three different editions, a very useful feat! It would definitely improve the article if you could illustrate the history of its publication using secondary sources and also incorporate your listings as well in order to help readers.--Britannicus (talk) 16:33, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
