  • ... that a painting of a Nigerian princess unseen for over 40 years was discovered in 2017 and sold for over £1 million? Source: "A famous painting that went missing for decades before turning up in a London apartment has sold for over $1.6 million (£1,205,000). Often dubbed the "African Mona Lisa," Ben Enwonwu's "Tutu" smashed sale estimates at an auction in London on Wednesday. One of a triptych of artworks created by Enwonwu during the aftermath of Nigeria's bloody civil war, "Tutu" disappeared shortly after being painted in 1974. Its whereabouts remained the subject of intense speculation for over 40 years before the portrait was discovered in a family home late last year." • checkY Article is long enough (1864 characters), new enough (created 19 September, nominated 25 September) and article is within policy
  • Question? No Swan So Fine As the painting sold for £1.2 million, I think the hook should say and sold for over £1 million or and sold for £1.2 million rather than and sold for £1 million. Do you agree?
  • checkY QPQ done
  • One question on the hook, once resolved this will be good to go. Joseph2302 (talk) 15:44, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Images of the painting are likely to be copyrighted, so cannot be uploaded here. If a freely licenced image could be found, then that could be uploaded. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:35, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Quick look at the QZ.com link cited as reference shows the painting looks like a mildly Africanized version of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring. --Kar98 (talk) 22:07, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
