Oklahoma City routings

There were a lot of reroutings and bannered routes here. There are no city insets on the state map between 1939 and 1953 exclusive. Fortunately few changes were made then.

US 66
  • 1929-1930: 39th-Classen-23rd-Lincoln-Grand-Kelley
  • 1931-1934: 39th-Western-23rd-Lincoln-Grand-Kelley
  • 1935-1953: 39th-May-23rd-Lincoln-Grand-Kelley
  • 1954-1955: 39th-May-Expressway-Kelley
  • 1956-1978: 39th-Expressway (via Classen Circle)
  • 1979-1985: 39th-Expressway (bypassing Classen Circle)
US 66 Alternate (supposedly "Beltline", but shown as unbannered US 66 on city insets and unlabeled on the main map until 1950)
  • 1931-1934: Western-Britton
  • 1935: 39th-Western-Britton
  • 1936-1947: 39th-Classen-Western-Britton
  • 1948-1953: May-Britton
US 66 City Route (Business in and after 1958)
  • 1954-1978: May-23rd-Lincoln
SH 66 (old route via Edmond; replaced by US 77 in 1967)
  • 1956-1962: Kelley (began at Expressway)
  • 1963-1966: Broadway (began at Expressway)
SH 66A (original access to the Turner Turnpike)
  • 1953: Expressway (began at May)
  • 1954-1955: Expressway (began at Kelley)
SH 66A (first labeled in 1963, but left unnumbered in 1956 when US 66 moved; replaced by SH 3A in 1979)
  • 1963-1978: Northwest Expressway (May to west of Classen)

This doesn't include Tulsa, which is already in the article. The first map available is 1916, but it doesn't have numbered routes.

AASHTO decommisioned highway

This article lists April Fools Day as the 1985 date that AASHTO decommissioned US Route 66. Shouldn't this day of infamy be June 27, 1985? April 1 is cited to [1] but that source is just for OK, not the entire eight-state route. 66.102.83.61 (talk) 00:31, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
