DII and DIII champions

[edit]

Would anyone be vehemently opposed to a section detailing Division II and III champions? If we're include the online competition, it seems only natural. Academic decathlete (talk) 08:06, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That is beyond the scope of this article. These are national champions, not division I champions. For example, had Waukesha West won last year, they would be on the list despite being Division II. I have included the electronic competitions because they are completely separate from the national competitions. It is because these three competitions are so clearly discrete that I have included them. However, if the virtual competitors were vying for the same title as Moorpark and Waukesha West were, then I would not have included those scores.
The biggest reason I did not include DII and DIII scores is because it is nearly impossible to find them prior to 2000. In fact, I'm not even sure separate divisions existed prior to 1998 (a lot happened with the advent of the 1997–98 season). If you can find all the DII / DIII scores and the school's names from 1998–present, I would be very happy to have that information included. But, as it stands, I do not think those scores fit well. - Yohhans talk 01:08, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Understandable. But under that line of logic, what are the e-Nationals champions doing on this page? It's existed for fewer years than the D II and III competition, its competitors are similarly constrained by school size, and the competition itself is much, much less important than a D II or III National Championship. The point that being Overall Champion and D II Champion are not mutually exclusive carries some force, but could that not easily be remedied by including a (rather redundant, except in 02) list of D I Champions? At this point I'm not arguing for the inclusion of D II and III lists, but rather, under the same standards, the deletion of the e-nationals list. What do you guys think? Academic decathlete (talk) 10:27, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The reason e-Nationals are included is because they are a completely separate competition from Nationals. For example, at e-Nationals, Duarte (middle school e-Nationals) did not compete against St. Johns (small school e-Nationals) nor did they compete against Whitney Young Magnet (Nationals). I would certainly be happy to include Division I, II, and III champions, but I would refrain from pulling information out of the article (removing e-Nationals data), just because certain other information is not included. I would be happy to work with you to find the data on DI, DII, and DIII champions to add it to the article though. - Yohhans talk 01:43, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey all,

Can it possibly be the case that GHC is the only public school to have won Nationals three times on the trot? Pearce won nationals thrice in a row back in the 80s, and as far as I can tell (and their wiki page confirms this); they are public, are they not???? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.234.195.126 (talk) 19:42, 9 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
