Semester Study Admissions
does anyone know how hard it is for students to be accepted? (from the US?)
- Have a look at http://www.uct.ac.za/international/iapo.php and http://web.uct.ac.za/misc/iapo/index.htm. If you're currently in college in the US and want to do a semester or a year at UCT ("Semester Study Abroad") you need at least a 3.0 GPA, plus some courses will have other specific requirements. You also need to have completed at least 3 semesters at your home institution before you come to UCT. - htonl 22:26, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
From UCT
I've never heard the term Ikeys in reference to the institution nor students. But when I was a student, it was quite common to refer to students from UCT as "FUCT"- From UCT. Infact students often proudly wore T shirts with the abbreviation walking around CT. --nocturnal omnivorous canine 14:52, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- The term is most certainly Ikeys and I'v never heard FUCT nor have I seen shirts like that. (I'm also an ex-UCT student). Mikker (...) 18:29, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I am a current UCT student, and I have heard both terms used, although "Ikey" is much more common ("FUCT" I have seen only on a few t-shirts). Ikey is the "official" nickname (viz. the rugby team being the Ikey Tigers and so on). - htonl 18:38, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- Well if it is the official nick then its the official nick. Just seemed like I was stuck in the Twilight zone for a bit. But seriously, when I was there, for about 4 years, FUCT was quite common. Infact there was a banner of some sort on Whale St.in my first year, about 98/99. --nocturnal omnivorous canine 13:40, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- It is the official nickname, though it's rarely used. New students rarely know of this, I first found out on wiki! Baoura (talk) 19:57, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Language of instruction
Curious about this, especially given the trilingual logo. DavidSSabb (talk) 01:05, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- English, except for classes on other languages which might be taught in those languages. - htonl (talk) 10:48, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Is there a place that this could be included in the infobox? DavidSSabb (talk) 15:46, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
UCT redirect and hatnote
I have restored the UCT redirect here (maintains status quo), namely the primary topic for the UCT abbreviation prior to it being made a disambiguation page earlier today and I see no compelling reason to change that. I have also added a new hatnote in this regard. HelenOnline 09:40, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
