Notability

[edit]

Sources all appear to apply to the series and season, no significant coverage of the individual episode. Most of the article is about the series, rather than the episode. See WP:TVEP. Schazjmd (talk) 18:19, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with JDDJS that there are more than enough sources to establish notability for a stand-alone episode article, since nearly all of the sources are about the series/comic book/film, and only one about this specific episode (plus a Metacritic link that doesn't contribute to notability). Image?

[edit]

Should there be an image in the article? The original image helps the reader get a sense of who they're reading about (e.g what the family looks like) and helps them get a better sense of the episode. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 12:09, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can the prose explain that the episode is about a family reuniting at a funeral? Yes? Then the image is not required, and thus violates Wikipedia policy. -- /Alex/21 02:26, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Alex 21: the image allows the viewer to see the family and understand who they're reading about. The visual is significant to the understatement of the article. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 23:56, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Some Dude From North Carolina, barely, given that the image has been updated to comply with IMAGERES, one can barely see the details of the family. How does that allow the reader to understand something that the prose does already not state? -- /Alex/21 01:00, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Alex 21: would this image work as a replacement? It's a crucial flashback in the series, and clearly presents the family and Sir Hargreeves. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 15:09, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Why is an image needed at all? Images are only needed when prose cannot explain something without visual aid. Just because it presents the family, doesn't mean it's useful. What does this image give that prose cannot? -- /Alex/21 22:15, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Alex 21: Just because the prose can explain it, it doesn't mean it isn't necessary for an image to be included. When readers click on a page, they usually look for an image to see if they're reading what they want to read. The image I gave as a replacement (this image) allows the viewer to see who the family is, who Sir Hargreeves is, and the fact that one of the children recruited is missing. While reading the article, the reader has a clear visual of what the young family looked like when reading about the flashbacks and learns more about who is who. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 12:24, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That's exactly what it means. Have you read WP:NFCC#8? Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Non-free content can only be used if prose cannot explain it. Readers should not expect an image. We are not here to serve readers, we are here to serve copyright policies. Readers can view the article for Hargeeves' actor to see him, prose can explain a child is missing. -- /Alex/21 12:32, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Alex 21: "significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic" basically supports my point as a picture of the family would help a reader better understand who they're reading about. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 12:06, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
