Suggestion to move page
[edit]The name of this page should be National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) rather than West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences. I propose that this page be moved.
-- Andy123 16:47, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- In case, you are sure, please move the page to the correct name. In case, you want any help, please feel free to contact me. --Bhadani 16:50, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
I am sorry about the earlier post. I checked out the NUJS website and confirmed that the University is indeed known by the name of West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences. Now what I am going to do is create some redirect pages that affirm with the conventions.
-- Andy123 17:01, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Add Criticism section
[edit]The page lacks in the Criticism section. Moreover, the achievement section is not quite satisfactory. It should be able to list, link or cite some of the major achievements of the University as well. Add details about the faculty members as well.
-- Andy123 17:11, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
- I have recovered some old edits and fused them with the article.

Infobox needed
[edit]I have uploaded the logo of the Law School. This page currently requires an infobox, like ones available on GNLU and NLSIU site. You can copy the source code from those pages to this one, and then upload information about the university. --Andy123 13:09, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
This article reads too much like a press release
[edit]Here's a sample:
“ | The objectives of the University inter alia are to:
Legal Studies at NUJS aim at a comprehensive learning experience, not only in traditional fields of legal education, but in contemporary cutting edge disciplines as well. The course structure is in conformity with the rules prescribed by the Bar Council of India. The Founder Vice Chancellor Dr. N.R. Madhava Menon, established NUJS with an aim to produce "social engineers". According to him, NUJS is a law school, which attempts to transform legal education into "justice education", a concept which emphasizes on legal ethics and social responsibility of the legal profession. |
” |
Someone needs to go through this article with a fine tooth comb to weed out all the buzzwords. MER-C 10:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- hi mer, thanks for responding, these are the objectives of the university and in my understanding they ought to fall within the definition of encyclopaedic info, for example if a company claims that it will provide homedelivery within 20 hours its not advertisement but a guarantee, so too the objectives of a university though may seem to be a bit flowery or too much over the top, yet they constitute an integral part to understand the institution. Legaleagle86 16:18, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Legaleagle86, there's also the description of the academic block - I was only halfway through an edit of the campus description, so there are STILL beauts such as the academic block being a 'majestic structure', and so on. The entire page reads far too much like an advertisement, or as an extension of the NUJS website.218.248.32.114 14:12, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- My dear anonymous friend from NLS or would you prefer NLSUI or rather "National .....", I would not like to start an edit war, however whydont you start making concrete suggestions on specific issues and discuss them here before vandalising the pages as you did [1][2] last few times, so I shall request you to kindly calm down and think out rationally as we both know that edit wars will be fruitless, thanks again my anonymous friend LegalEagle 16:07, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry for being anonymous earlier - I'm a bit of a Wiki newbie, which probably shows in that I added the NPOV tag without an earlier discussion on this page. However, let me substantiate what I was saying earlier by quoting this: "Dr. Ambedkar Bhavan (University Academic Block) is a beautiful edifice in stone. It is located on a prime land in Salt Lake City, overseeing the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. The Campus consists of an academic and three residential blocks — two seven storied halls of residence for girls and boys apiece and a double storied staff accommodation-cum-guest house. The academic block is a four storied majestic structure, comprising of 105 rooms in all with lift facility. It is an inward looking building octagonal in shape and rounded by widespread verandas that open up to the vast central courtyard with a fountain on one side. The build ing has nearly everything a modern University ought to have — a host of Class rooms, a vast library with a sprawling reading room, medical facilities and an auditorium. There is a central library with each school of the University having its own specialized library." This is what I edited back then, and the description of NUJS in terms of its campus is still somewhat biased. While I understand (now) that the NPOV tag is a little extreme, I suggest that the language of the entire page be toned down. Please understand that I am NOT in any way looking for an edit war, especially because I don't know quite what that means and I have a lot of friends in NUJS who I don't want killing me. I was just pointing out that the perspective on the article reads like some court historian describing the palace of the king paying his bills. The article needs a bit of a revamp. I apologise if I have offended you or made you believe I was looking for an edit war. Carboxy's moron 16:21, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Dear Carboxy, thank you for your thoughts, I appreciate your decision to discuss about changes at talkpage first. I have already removed some obvious POV like 'beautiful edifice', 'what a university ought to have', which you have also pointed out earlier, I welcome you to make further suggestion so that there is no overt or covert POV in the article.
