Atomic Kitten

[edit]

I don't think any of Atomic Kitten went to Holly Lodge girls school. I think one of them went to Broughton Hall, also in West Derby. One's from the south of the city and the other is from Wallasey. 82.42.121.167 (talk)

I think you're right. 84.64.244.29 (talk)

NALGO club.

[edit]

The section on organisations is about 75% about the old NALGO club, and seems to exist to perpetuate some kind of in-joke. Surely it's not as significant as whoever wrote this (probably from the bar) thinks? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.42.92.21 (talk) 09:58, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology

[edit]

Derby derives from Old Norse "djúr" (deer) + bý (farmstead) - so "farm of the deer". It's nothing to do with the later deer park which was a concept introduced by the Normans as part of their forest system (a forest in those days meaning an area of land reserved for royalty and nobility to hunt in, rather than woodland). The second word of West Derby is pronounced Der-bee, unlike the city of Derby which is pronounce Dah-bee. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:EA01:1090:A96A:526E:36F0:F8FC (talk) 20:57, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
