Misattribution

[edit]

This is not from Euripides, see See Euripides Misattributions and next time do your homework before you accuse an experienced editor of vandalism. JacquesDelaguerre (talk) 06:49, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In reply to the sensitive User:Jaxdelaguerre I did not directly or indirectly criticise Rurpedes misattribution. My input was to endorse the reference to roger pearse. If User:Jaxdelaguerre feels aggrieved I apologise for any assumed or direct? attack on his integrity. Indeed the quotation citing Publius Syrius and the input citing F.W.Householder, “Quem deus vult perdere dementat prius” The Classical Weekly 29 (1936), 165-7 (JSTOR) endorse User talk:Jaxdelaguerre|talk do more than just quantify Euripides#Misattributed Euripides Misattributions I ask only for Monsieur Jacques De La Guerre to accept this apology in the manner that it is sent.

Merge

[edit]

This article and the dab page Whom the gods would destroy (disambiguation) are both about the phrase in general, its origins and its uses. I suggest a merge into one (non-dab) page. Greenshed (talk) 11:46, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Move page

[edit]

I think it would make sense to move this page to the full quote as it is usually quoted: "Whom the gods would destroy they first make mad". Relinus (talk) 03:29, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
