What are Woodmen actually?--SlipperyHippo 23:05, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bits of vandalism

[edit]

This article has been badly chewed up, judging by the revision log. Someone who knows more about it than me should perhaps refactor it based on earlier versions to bring it back up to par. adamrice 23:52, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Headstone

[edit]

I think the headstone picture should be with the headstone division of the article. Currently it is in the divsion above that one. It would be better fitting in the division that it represents. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.195.229.20 (talk) 12:27, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DUM TACET CLAMAT

[edit]

As a genealogy enthusiast, I have noticed this inscription on many headstones. A translation would be appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.51.117.65 (talk) 17:06, 14 October 2010 (UTC) The translation is “Though silent, he speaks”. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clbeeson (talkcontribs) 15:19, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Broadcasting

[edit]

References to sale of WOW due to non-profit status, and forced sale, were removed as erroneous. The Society leased WOW to a local group for 15 years, then sold the station and transferred the license to the group in 1943. Subsequent litigation ensued as to whether the transaction was a fraudulent conveyance. Jurisdictional issues were resolved by the U.S. Supreme Court; it did not rule on the principal question. Despite the litigation, the station license remained in the hands of the local group until sold in 1951 to Meredith Corporation. Johnwellsking (talk) 20:58, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
