this reference is broken. and is in chinese. 89.134.199.32 (talk) 13:23, 27 June 2019 (UTC).[reply]

not only source (1) is broken but the whole sentence backed by it is misleading

[edit]

"Yellow Cross is also a generic World War I German marking for artillery shells with chemical payload affecting exposed surfaces of the body. [1] "

problems: 1, i would expect a german, or perhaps another european source for the worldwar I. german markings. it is hardly conceivable that there is no german, or other european literature available for this topic.

2, the wording "exposed surfaces of the body" is misleading as "exposed" without firther clarification reads like "not covered by clothing" which is utterly wrong in case of chemical warfare agents, they do affect body parts covered by clothing.

3,the awkward wording of "affecting exposed surfaces of the body" sounds like an effort of translation (probably back and forth multiple times until the original meaning of the text is lost in translation). it would make sense to make difference between chemicals that affect the airways (eg: a gas mask provides protection) and chemicals that affect all body surfaces that is SKIN. all the talk about exposure is over-explanation as it is obvious that a body part that is not exposed to a chemical in any way can not be affected by it. So i propose to clarify this sentence by shortening the misleading awkward part about exposure to simply SKIN. 89.134.199.32 (talk) 13:35, 27 June 2019 (UTC).[reply]
