Gbadewonuola Olateju Oyelakin (ⓘ; born 20 January 1979), known by his stage name Teju Babyface, is a Nigerian standup comedian, talk show host, producer and writer. He is credited with introducing late-night television to Nigeria with The Teju Babyface Show in 2010.[1] He is also known by many in Nigeria as "The King of Talk".[2]
He started his entertainment career in 1998 after playing the lead role in Diamond Ring, a movie franchise directed by Tade Ogidan. In 2001, Teju Babyface appeared in Amaka Igwe's Solitaire, where he played the lead opposite Richard Mofe-Damijo. He also appeared in the television drama series One Too Much in the same period.
Teju Babyface has also written two books, titled Secrets Of The Streets: 23 Secrets For Achieving Success With Talent and Forget Principles, Find A Mentor: How To Connect With The People Who Will Help You Get From Where You Are To Where You Need To Be In Life. In 2020, his books were republished under the title, Secrets Of The Streets: Twenty-Three Secrets For Making Money With Your Talent That You Will Never Learn In School.[3][4][5][6]
In 2017, he was appointed as the Ambassador of Nigeria for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). His goals are decent work and economic growth.
Career
[edit]In his first year of university, Teju Babyface joined the University of Lagos theatre outfit, Theatre 15, and appeared in on-campus stage productions and plays, including Jambitoast, Hell's Invitation, Nightmare, Dawn of Decisions and His Wife The Waif. In 1998, while a member of Theatre 15, he was cast in Diamond Ring, a Nollywood thriller film directed by Tade Ogidan. In 2000, he featured on The Nite of a Thousand Laffs, a popular comedy show in Nigeria.
In 2010, Teju Babyface premiered The Teju Babyface Show, the first late-night television show in Nigeria.[1] Guests have included Kate Henshaw, Jimi Agbaje and 9ice.[7][8]
He has also started his own podcast "The Teju Babyface Deep Dive", where he interviews various media personas.[9]

In September 2012, Oyelakin married Oluwatobiloba Banjoko.[11][12] In 2018, the couple had twins.[13][14][10]
