Capon Chapel

[edit]

Capon Chapel

  • ALT1:... that even though it was likely built around 1852, Capon Chapel (pictured) has served as the site of religious services and interments since the 1750s?

Interesting history on good sources, offline sources accepted AGF. Image nice and free. The ALT doesn't work with pictured, because the pictured chapel didn't serve then. In the original hook, the name of the chapel comes too late for my taste, - people will have clicked on other links instead. For me, just to point at free and enslaved Afro Americans would be interesting enough. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:36, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt, I concur with you regarding the ALT1 hook, so I've struck it. What are your thoughts on the ALT2 hook? Thank you so incredibly much for your thoughtful review! -- Caponer (talk) 14:33, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
Good suggestion, slightly changed:
ALT3:... that in the cemetery of Capon Chapel (pictured), two state legislators, Union and Confederate American Civil War veterans, and free and enslaved African Americans are buried?
ALT2 and ALT3, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:25, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
Gerda Arendt, thanks again! I love your suggestion. I support ALT3. -- Caponer (talk) 19:42, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
ALT3a:... that two state legislators, Union and Confederate American Civil War veterans, and free and enslaved African Americans are buried in the cemetery of Capon Chapel (pictured)?
While I generally think it's preferable to have the bold link early in a hook, in this case I think it reads smoother rearranged as in ALT3a. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 22:00, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
I agree that it reads smoother, but death is not smooth. I would stop reading at "state legislators" ;) - IF that way, at least get the slaves to the front, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:06, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
