Shiv Pande

[edit]

Created by Whispyhistory (talk), Edwardx (talk), and Philafrenzy (talk). Nominated by Philafrenzy (talk) at 20:53, 25 July 2018 (UTC).

    • ALT1:... that Shiv Pande arranged for India and Pakistan to form its first-ever joint cricket team in aid of the orphans of the Bhopal gas disaster? Pande raised funds by staging first-ever India-Pakistan XI Vs International XI Charity Cricket match at Lancashire County Cricket Club, Manchester and presented funds to both Mother Teresa for her charity and the then Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi for orphans of Bhopal Gas Tragedy.[1] Whispyhistory (talk) 10:00, 1 August 2018 (UTC)
  • New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. ALT1 hook ref verified and cited inline. I tightened the hook wording and added a link. QPQ done. ALT1 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 01:39, 3 August 2018 (UTC)
  • I pulled this as I'm unsure if the source is reliable. Gatoclass (talk) 23:50, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
@Gatoclass: The same paragraph also appears to use sources such as the Daily Telegraph (albeit offline issues), would those be enough? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:10, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
@Narutolovehinata5: No, because that paragraph doesn't include the crucial detail that this was the "first ever" joint India-Pakistan cricket team. Gatoclass (talk) 00:15, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
  • Suggestion without putting 'first ever'
  • ALT2:... that in 1985, Shiv Pande organised a combined India-Pakistan cricket team to play the “rest of the world” in aid of the orphans of the Bhopal gas disaster?"
  • Dr Pande raised funds by staging first-ever India-Pakistan XI Vs International XI Charity Cricket match at Lancashire County Cricket Club, Manchester and presented funds to both Mother Teresa for her charity and the then Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi for orphans of Bhopal Gas Tragedy.[2], from this site - www.nriinternet.com
  • Pande arranged the match ("GP sets up charity raffles of cricket mementos". General Practitioner. 16 August 1985.) and the match was reported day later in The Guardian (Fitzpatrick, Paul (29 August 1985). "Kalli shows rest the way home". The Guardian.) are off line sources.Whispyhistory (talk) 06:38, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
It's more interesting that it was a joint India-Pakistan team playing the "rest of the world" than that it was some sort of first. First are always debatable as they depend on the exact parameters chosen. There were two beneficiaries. Philafrenzy (talk) 08:17, 19 August 2018 (UTC)
  • Reviewer needed to check ALT2 and ALT3; striking ALT1 due to "first-ever" issue. BlueMoonset (talk) 22:44, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
Either ALT2 or ALT3 should be good to go then. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:23, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
