- Comment: Any alternative hook suggestions or suggestions for better phrasing are welcome. I considered putting an ALT1 around Thorburn's penalty and the reason for it, but I wasn't sure if that would be regarded as unduly negative about a living person.

I would suggest that a new hook be proposed as the current one has a very limited audience (i.e. it's probably not going to interest those who aren't snooker fans). Perhaps Lee Vilenski can help suggest something more suitable? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:33, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- BennyOnTheLoose - maybe a good hook would be the reason why Higgins lost his place. Wasn't it due to his ban from headbutting Paul Hatherell? If I'm right that would make a good hook IMO. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:17, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for your consideration Narutolovehinata5 and Lee Vilenski. I think I originally overestimated the appeal of this article to the public at large and it's probably best to quietly withdraw the DYK nomination. LV is right (as ever!) about the cause for the ban but as that happened in 1986 the link feels a little bit too tenuous to me. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 21:59, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
