Jackson Browne

[edit]

Jackson Browne a one-time member of Blue Oyster Cult - was he the lighting technician? (the person who made this entry did not sign it)

As far as I know, Jackson Browne was never a member of Blue Oyster Cult, nor did he do the lighting. From what I have read, it was actually Blue Oyster Cult that did some work with Jackson Browne, not the other way around. In Browne's own words, "Back home I was all set to have this group, the Soft White Underbelly, as my backup band. I spent a week trying to figure out some arrangements to my songs that would fit this band, but it didn't matter because they later became Blue Oyster Cult. They were great musicians, they really were. And they played my songs really well. I'm afraid I was the least proficient musician among them." I've removed this as being not worth including on the template. Brown played with lots of early 70s NYC artists, and Soft White Underbelly's management tried out multiple singers (including Patti Smith). Browne is not currently mentioned in the BÖC article (an omission worth fixing), nor is BÖC in Browne's.
It might be nice to add to this template a section for illustrious lyricists and collaborators, such as Sandy Pearlman, Patti Smith, Richard Meltzer and Michael Moorcock, all of whom have articles (and perhaps Helen "Wheels" Robbins, who has no article at this time). Even so, I'd leave Browne off. / edg 12:25, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"Lyricists" section boldly added. / edg 12:40, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rainbow?

[edit]

How is Rainbow listed as a related act when it comes to Blue Öyster Cult? I'm removing that link unless someone else can explain why it was there. I don't see the connection between the two bands, unless you're going to say it's because Bobby Rondinelli was in both bands. If that's the case, why not include every other band a current or former member of Blue Öyster Cult was in, such as Savatage, Megadeth, Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne, Queen + Paul Rodgers, etc.? I could see it if a significant number of band members were in both bands, such as the connection Elf has with Rainbow, but not Blue Öyster Cult. BucsWeb (talk) 18:28, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
