Why are Anglicans part of the Free Churches?

[edit]

The Anglicans should not be listed as being part of the Free Churches. The Anglican Church was started precisely because the government dictated to the Church their theology of marriage and divorce. The Book of Common Prayer was instituted by the English government. And even in the article for Free church which is linked to from the template we are told that "In England, where the Church of England was the established church ... [other churches] ... are among those counted as free churches". Data (talk) 15:13, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Because the Church of England is not a state church in Germany. The relationship of the Church with the German government is that of a free church because it is not part of the historical Landeskirches of Germany. Barumbarumba (talk) 19:34, 24 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
