[edit]

Hi ‎Hazmat2, I noticed you the images back to Auerbach's plexus and Meissner's plexus‎. I recently made this template and things it's a good way to present a unified image that can be easily changed (in one place) for all the gastrointestinal wall-related articles... although I'm not too sure what picture to use. What would your opinion be about changing it to the picture that you used for those two articles? By using the image in this template, we can easily change the image displayed on all the relevant articles. Would value your opinion; kind regards, --LT910001 (talk) 13:32, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for asking. I have two thoughts on this. One is that a "realistic" diagram is always nice. However, the image you chose is not good enough quality in my opinion. So, to possibly remedy that I requested for someone else (as I don't have the time) to make a vector diagram. See Wikipedia:Graphics_Lab/Illustration_workshop#Layers_of_the_GI_Tract. Second, there's a big difference between a diagram that someone needs to click to read and one that is simply there. It was the original reason that the text and block diagram I made was originally used for the articles. You don't need to click on it to read it and it gives useful information. Perhaps you could make a wikitable to replace the image I made. It depends how it looks. I wouldn't mind if my image got replaced by something better, but as it stands the single image in this template didn't do that.
In other words, I suggest using both images, one for information and the other for general look/feel and the click-through information. However, the JPEG should be temporary until something better can be made as it's low quality and honestly makes this template look cheap. The Haz talk 05:10, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Another option might be to work a table similar to this into the template or articles instead of the image:
Mucosa Epithelium
Lamina propria
Muscularis mucosa
Submucosa Meissner's (submucosal) plexus
Muscularis propria Circular muscle
Auerbach's (myenteric) plexus
Longitudinal muscle
Serosa or Adventitia

That structure makes a lot of sense, ‎Hazmat2, and I'll see what I can do to get the template looking more like the above structure (without the colours). I'm not a template master however, so this may take about a week. Do not plan to duplicate the physiology template entirely; under WP:ANATOMY I have begun to create some 'series' templates for anatomical structures I believe are closely linked. Agree that the image is not the best. --LT910001 (talk) 02:20, 23 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template comment

[edit]

I just wanted to note that the the {{Gastrointestinal physiology}} template is on each page as well. I'm not sure how much you plan to duplicate. It has the highlighting set up based on the current page. The Haz talk 05:17, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vector Images

[edit]

Goran tek-en has been kind (and talented) enough to recreate the JPEG image as two vector images for use in GI articles. I have replaced the current JPEG with the SVG/English version but there is also a language-neutral version probably better for use in articles.
