Inclusion criteria
[edit]There seems no consensus on the definition of a political party, but for this template we need to draw a line between political parties and other political organizations.
FYI, several Japanese laws provide definitions of a political party although they are not identical (see article on Japanese Wikipedia). However, they are so strict that New Party Daichi is not considered to be a political party. I would like to relax the criteria. Specifically, I would like to include groups that fulfill one of the following conditions:
- Political parties recognized by law (e.g. LDP and DPJ).
- Those which have seats in the National Diet (e.g. New Party Daichi).
- Those which have seats in local assemblies nationwide (e.g. New Socialist Party).
I admit the third criteria is ambiguous and might need to be reconsidered. In any case, political groups that fail to have seats even in local assemblies should be removed. --Nanshu (talk) 12:46, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
- Done. --Nanshu (talk) 13:16, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for that Nanshu. I had thought about cleaning up the template sometime last year but never got off my lazy butt to do so. Thanks for putting in the effort. Simon-in-sagamihara (talk) 04:31, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
