Labels

[edit]

I have removed the labels per WP:V. I find nothing on Olympus' site indicating they use these labels, and they are uncited. Cburnett (talk) 00:07, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't got the time at the moment. Just about every Oly press release announcing the camera declares who the target market is, so if any other editor has the time they can add these references using the <ref>link here</ref>. If no one else gets around to it, I'll go ahead and do it myself in a few hours. Tejastheory (talk) 01:04, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

E-10, E-20

[edit]

Currently, the template doesn't list Olympus E-10 and Olympus E-20. I don't know what the brand name for this series is, so I can't add them myself. I thought I should put a note here, so a more expert user may handle it later on. hujiTALK 14:30, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The E-10 and E-20 are not SLRs... they are large, SLR-like bridge digital cameras. ǝɹʎℲxoɯ (contrib) 14:48, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent! Are there any other such cameras from the same brand? If not, I don't creating a new tempalte would be necessary; we can merely link the two articles. hujiTALK 19:51, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The template here is for DSLR cameras, so the E-10 and E-20 shouldn't be linked or mentioned here in any way. If anything, a new template for bridge-style cameras, or Olympus non-DSLR cameras in general, would need to be made, but I don't know if this is worthwhile or notable enough. -Tejastheory (talk) 20:09, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

E-510 as high-end?

[edit]

I'm not sure if it makes sense to classify the E-500 and E-510 as high-end, now that we're using a price-based categorizing scheme. The body MSRP was only $799 at launch[1], which is BELOW other mid-range cameras like the Nikon D80 or Canon EOS 40D (labeled as Mid-range).

I think the E-510 is similar to the Pentax K10D in terms of offering features at the high end of mid-range, with a price at the low end of mid-range. So I'd like to re-label that row as "Mid-range", with a reference to the MSRP.

Any objections? If not, I'll go ahead and make this change... I just want to avoid more category edit warring, so I'm proposing it here first! ǝɹʎℲxoɯ (contrib) 00:50, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree - midrange sounds more sensible Tejastheory (talk) 07:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Placing 4x0 and 5x0 in separate headings is incorrect. They are the same league - no real difference other than IS. NVO (talk) 01:05, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well the 4xx series also costs less. I agree that there feature sets are mostly the same, and the price is fairly similar. But the 4xx, being the cheapest and most basic, is the entry-level camera, and the 5xx is midrange for users who want a step up, even if the price and feature step isn't that big. Tejastheory (talk) 02:15, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The point is, 4xx are not "more basic" than 5xx. All the functionality is there, except IS, and other than this - a smaller battery, and a simpler button layout, that's all. As for the price difference, half a year ago when I got a 410, it was under 50 euro - hardly worth a separate heading. Right now the price difference between 420 and 520 in my market is 150-200 euro, but 520 is out of stock - price will settle with supply. NVO (talk) 09:30, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NVO (talk) 09:30, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well there you have it - it's missing a few features like IS, and therefore it is "more basic", even if it is not much more. And the price is significantly lower (150-200 euros is a pretty significant price gap). It's not really up to opinion - even if you personally *feel* like your 410 can do most of the things the 5xx can do and it didn't cost that much less, the fact is that it has less features and does cost less, making it more entry-level than the 5xx series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tejastheory (talkcontribs) 23:11, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

E-450 replaces E-420?

[edit]

At what point did Olympus announce that the E-450 was a replacement for the E-420? 94.196.13.79 (talk) 22:13, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure, but the e420 is discontinued, going to change the table to show the E450 taking over from the E420, will search for a "discontinued" date first though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.16.9.234 (talk) 09:25, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
