Under construction

[edit]

The Under construction section is much longer than the existing structures. Someone really needs to weed many of those out. Reywas92Talk 21:29, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't it be better just to create a separate template for under construction supertalls? Rai-me 05:45, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have gone through all of the supposedly under-constructions and removed all of the supertalls that aren't on this CTBUH list or otherwise didn't have any SkyscraperPage or Emporis entries or other reliable sources stating that the subject was u/c. I also found this helpful to determine which supertalls were only proposed, however I did not go through the proposed skyscrapers template for the following reasons:
  • I believe that by removing the non under-construction supertalls from this template, I have far from fixed it. By taking a look at the first link I have supplied above, you'll see there are far more supertall skyscrapers classified by the CTBUH that don't even have a Wikipedia article, let alone a place in this template.
  • The same applies for the second link I supplied (proposed supertalls).
  • Within a few years, the number of supertall skyscrapers being built will have doubled
Therefore, I propose that the under construction section (along with the construction suspended section) of this template be completely scrapped, just leaving the completed and former sections.

Of course, there will be so many more proposed buildings in the next few years, it would be impossible to keep up. In my opinion, the newly proposed buildings in the other template should be removed, just leaving the cancelled and visions. timsdad (talk) 10:19, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Still-Proposed Buildings

[edit]

The Trans National Place was found in the under construction template, but when I visited the article, it stated that the construction for the building was scheduled to begin in 2008!! I think someone should move this back into the proposed supertall skyscrapers section.

You are correct; I have removed it. Rai-me 05:45, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alphabetical order: "The" under "T" or the next word?

[edit]

When Hydrogen Iodide moved Burj Dubai Lake Hotel to The Address, I noticed that entries that began with "the" were alphabetized under "T." Isn't it customary for entries that begin with "the" to be alphabetized by the next word? In other words, should "The Address" and "The Marina Torch" be alphabetized as "Address" and "Marina Torch," respectively? Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 21:46, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What Country?

[edit]

Could the countries of the said buildings be added to the list so we know where abouts they are? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.69.190.34 (talk) 19:29, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, this template is meant only to list the tallest buildings and not the countries within which those buildings are located. If you want to see the country, you should select the the building and read about it on their respective articles. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 22:17, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the Wordl Trade Ceter is the best history because yes —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.68.57.120 (talk) 22:58, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

City of Capitals

[edit]

Doesn't this deserve a mention somewhere? 131.111.184.95 (talk) 00:38, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Timsdad! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.184.95 (talk) 01:06, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Middle East is in Asia!

[edit]

Not to be pedantic (well, OK just a little bit!) but, why is there a category called "Middle East" and another one called "Asia"? Shouldn't these 2 categories be merged into just one -- "Asia"? /geography Nazi —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.103.79.151 (talk) 20:09, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template needs revising

[edit]

Many building in here no longer fit in the section of the template they are in. For example the Pentominium under the under construction section but is now on hold, or the City Hall and City Duma is under the on hold section but is now cancelled and should be switched to the Supertall Proposed Skyscrapers template under the cancelled section. There are also building in this template that should be under the Supertall Proposed skyscrapers template since they are only proposed and constrution has yet to begin. The Supertall Proposed skyscrapers template also likely needs revision. Stormchaser89 (talk) 6:46, 28 August 2011 (US Central)

Supertall definition

[edit]

"supertall" skyscrapers need a definition, clear, in the template. I know a lot of tall skyscrapers and very tall skyscrapers and I dont know is I must paste those here or not, we need a size standard, 100 Metres? 200 metres? 600 meteres? what is the minimun?--Feroang (talk) 02:47, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The definition of supertall is 300 meters or higher. Stormchaser89 (talk) 4:10pm, 1 October 2012 (US Central)

[edit]

The template is woefully out of date, most notably the UAE section. To elaborate, here are my proposed changes:

Move from "Under construction" to "completed" – DAMAC Residenze (completed 2018), The Address Boulevard (completed 2017), Marina 101 (completed 2017). Move from "Under construction" to "construction delayed or suspended" – Dubai Pearl, Pentominium, Marina 106.

As for supertall towers currently under construction in the UAE, there are a few, but none have Wikipedia articles. They are, in decreasing order of height: Ciel Tower (366 metres), Il Primo Tower 1 (356 meters), Uptown Tower 2 (340 meters), Grande (338 meters), AMA Tower (333 Meters), One Za'abeel (330 meters), Adventz Tower (328 meters), Al Wasl Tower (302 meters) and Jumeirah Gate (303 meters).

Additionally, every single tower listed in the India section is also currently either on hold or cancelled. There are no towers in India taller than 300 meters that are actively being constructed at the moment.

Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia has also been on hold since early 2018. Diamond Tower in the same city doesn't appear to have seen construction since about then either, and is classed as On Hold by Skyscrapercity.

As for South Korea, the three LCT towers are all completed, in November 2019. The three tower links all lead to the same article, so it might be better to just list the whole complex (Haeundae LCT The Sharp) in the template. The remaining tower, Parc1 Tower, is so close to completion as of this writing that you might as well move that one to Completed as well.

The China section is a little too unwieldy to describe here. I hope to one day get enough editing access and time to have a proper deep dive into it and sort out the completed and postponed towers, of which there are quite a few.  Partly done: I've started by moving Marina 101 and Address Boulevard, because their articles both have sources for their respective completion. DAMAC Residenze seems to have no source for its completion in its own article, so it'd be best if you find a WP:RS for that. I haven't looked at any others yet, but I think they should be treated the same way: if they have a source already, I'll move them, otherwise, see if you can find one (and add it to the article, while you're at it). Regarding your user rights, you should only need six more edits (I think, from looking at your contribs) to become autoconfirmed yourself, at which point you'll be able to both edit this template and create articles for all the skyscrapers that still need some. Rummskartoffel (talk) 23:01, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Partly done: I've moved Dubai Pearl as well now. Pentominium was already in "delayed or suspended", but its article needs updating according to a maintenance template, which might make for another potential project for you. I haven't moved Marina 106, because its current status appears to be unsourced. Rummskartoffel (talk) 23:15, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Partly done: I've moved Palais Royale, Mumbai and World One; all the other Indian ones appear to have no sources for their status. Rummskartoffel (talk) 00:03, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Partly done: I've moved both Jeddah Tower and Diamond Tower (Jeddah) and edited the latter's article accordingly. Rummskartoffel (talk) 10:16, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Partly done: I've now moved Haeundae LCT The Sharp as well. I think Parc1 Tower should be moved once it's finished. That's all I'm gonna do for now, but you can always reactivate the edit request and someone will come along and take a look. Rummskartoffel (talk) 10:34, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

change 1 Manhattan West to One Manhattan West which is the name of the article itself 2603:7000:4BF0:620:3065:D92:8E53:B7AF (talk) 18:13, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Note: While One Manhattan is indeed the name of the article (assuming that it's the common name), such a change would cause "1 Manhattan" (also used and a redirect) to be pushed down the list. M.Bitton (talk) 22:07, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
