Two proposed changes

[edit]

The current navbox looks like this:

I propose two changes. First, I'd like to add Redistricting Commission to the bottom line, between the links to Redistricting and Gerrymandering; Second, I'd like to add an image of the state's current congressional districts.,

The result would look something like this:

Ideally, {{USCongDistState}} would be expanded to permit the inclusion of a link to the state's Redistricting Commission and an optional image of the district boundaries, but that's not an absolute requirement. The key question is whether other editors consider this proposal the improvement that I think it represents. Thanks. 67.100.125.181 (talk) 04:05, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your changes would make it inconsistent with the 49 other U.S. Congressional District State navboxes. Even Template:USCongDistStateNJ does not currently list their previous redistricting commissions. I think you should better get feedback from Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Congress too, which would likely be more concerned with consistency with all these navboxes than Wikipedia:WikiProject California would. I don't know why each state cannot have specific links, like it does for maps, on its redistricting efforts for each state, rather then a link to the generic article. --RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 15:39, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the proposed change would make it less consistent with navboxes used by the 49 other states but hardly "inconsistent"; the decrease in consistency is minor, and IMHO outweighed by the increased relevance and access to a key article about CA's process for redistricting. Again, I would welcome expanding {{USCongDistState}} to permit this change, but I suggest gathering further evidence that the proposed change is worthwhile. If its worthwhile, it makes sense to ask Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Congress if they would implement support for the features we want. 67.100.125.157 (talk) 01:03, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
