Season 5

The sixth season of The Voice Kids, a reality competition show in the Philippines based on the Dutch TV series of the same title, is broadcast by GMA Network. It is hosted by Dingdong Dantes, with Billy Crawford, Julie Anne San Jose, and Stell of SB19 returning as coaches from The Voice Generations; newcomer Pablo, also from SB19, joined as a new coach. The sixth season premiered on September 15, 2024 on the network's Sunday Grande sa Gabi line up replacing Running Man Philippines.[1]

Background

[edit]

Following the success of The Voice Generations, GMA Network announced a new season of an installment of The Voice of the Philippines for its 2024 line-up.[2] The season was officially confirmed by the network in March 2024; they later announced that producers' auditions for the show's season would run from March to June 2024, for singers aged 7 to 14 years old, at the GMA Network Center in Quezon City.[3][4]

In July 2024, Dingdong Dantes was announced as a presenter of the show, while Billy Crawford, Julie Anne San Jose, and Stell of SB19 were announced to return as coaches from The Voice Generations.[5] Later that month, Pablo, also from SB19, was also announced as a coach.[6]

This marked the first season of the series not to air on ABS-CBN, as it announced that it would stop producing the franchise in May 2024.[7]

Blind auditions

[edit]

The season will begin with the blind auditions. In each audition, each artist performs their piece in front of the panel of coaches, whose chairs are facing the audience. If a coach is interested in working with the artist, they may opt to press the button to face the artist. An artist is defaulted to a coach when only one coach turns; if multiple coaches turn, the coaches compete for the artist, who will later choose their coach. Each coach has to recruit 9 artists on their teams, making it a total of 36 artists who will advance to the Battles.

The Battles

[edit]

The second stage of the show, The Battles, features 36 artists advancing to this round. The coaches pit three of their artists in a singing match and then select one of them to advance to the next round. The ability to steal an artist from other teams continued this season. Losing artists may be "stolen" by another coach. Same as the previous season, the steals are done off-stage, where the coaches must go to the artists with their families backstage to steal the artist they want to become the member of their team.[14]

At the end of this round, four artists will remain on each team; three will be the battle winners, and one from a steal. In total, 16 artists advance to the sing-offs.
