Mattel Electronic Football is an early handheld electronic game, released by Mattel Electronics in 1977 and later re-released as "Classic Football" in 2000. Sold through the Sears catalog, its sales would reach 500,000 units per week by early 1978.[1][2]

Gameplay[edit]

The running back is represented as a bright dot on the LED display, and must avoid five duller dots representing defensive tacklers. The displayed area loops over multiple times to fit the entire field, with each square being a single yard.[3]
