Timothy Gbenga Nubi (born in Nigeria in 1961) is a Professor in the Department of Estate Management[1], University of Lagos; He possesses Ph.D in Construction Management from the prestigious University of Lagos (2005); Certificate in House Finance Management, University of Pennsylvania, USA (2004); M.Phil. in Construction Management, University of Lagos (2002); M.Sc in Construction Management, University of Lagos (1992); B.Sc Degree Honours, Estate Management, UNILAG (1990); and HND in Urban and Regional Planning from Yaba College of Technology (1985). He’s the founding director[2], Centre for housing, and appointed as the Director of the Research and Innovation Office(now Research Management Office) from [3], University of Lagos.

  • He has become a voice in the housing industry[4].
  • He was a foundation member and Executive of Real Estate Developer Association of Nigeria (REDAN)[5].
  • He promoted housing education in the country(Nigeria)[6].
  • The establishment of the Centre for Housing in 2014 was the first of its kind in Africa[7].
  • Today the Centre is hosting the ARUA Centre of Excellence in Urbanization and Habitable Cities[8].
  • The Centre has designed a model for hosting a successful Centre that promotes internalization, leading to phenomenal growth in Research and Development across Africa[9].
  • He developed a frontal knowledge in the area of housing finance and urban regeneration.
  • He helped to shape policy direction in the country.
  • He developed a working document for the National Committee of Housing Reform in 2006.
  • Also, the Federal Government and most State governments to have agencies that are responsible for urban regeneration through my work.

Career

He is the Founder/National Coordinator, Ideal Habitat Initiative[10] –an NGO with locations at Ajah, Mowe & Abuja; an Executive Member/South West Coordinator, Real Estate Developers’ Association of Nigeria (REDAN)[11][12]; an Advisory Council Member, Habitat for Humanity Nigeria; a Member, Christian Community Development Association (CCDA)[13] in Chicago, USA and a Senior Pastor, Upper Room Baptist Church[14], Lagos. Passion is to find a lasting solution to Nigeria’s housing problems. His wealth of experience in engaging with the government, communities, NGOs and Private Sector Organizations in Nigeria, UK, US and Netherlands has led to well established policy documents and implementation of key projects in housing and urban regeneration in Nigeria.
