I do not tend to edit articles directly, and if there's anything I react about I take it up on the discussion page.

My philosophy

You could say I'm a libertarian with the glaring exception of companies. I believe companies or corporation (I don't care about semantical diffrences), are the biggest threat to individual liberty and freedom. Slightly ahead of goverments, and any other authoritarian (or totalitarian) entity, on the danger scale.

The dangers of deregulation and privatisation of certain businesses

Companies primarily seek to maximise profit. You could say companies are profit based organisations as compared to goverment organisations. You can argue all day about other reasons, but that is the bottom line. This causes incentive for actions that create more business/profit etc. So what happens then when you privatise a business (make it profit based) like arms, military, healthcare and prisons?

A business like prisons relies on prisoners for it's main source of revenue (through taxpayers). This creates an incentive for creating more prisoners. This is where the danger starts.

To achieve increased profit you might try to lobby for a harscher social climate (more criminals), laws (longer sentences), fear (angrier/scared free population), slave labour (unvoluntary prisoner work) etc.

Make military profit based and you will create an incentive for conflict, or at the very least the threat of conflict and an unstable geopolitical situation.

Make arms profit based and you will create an incentive for conflict, or at the very least the threat of conflict and an unstable geopolitical situation.

Make healthcare profit based and you will create an incentive for disease.

Make pharmaceuticals profit based, wich is the case in many countries, and you will create an incentive for permanently sick and medicated people.

You do NOT have to have an economy degree or a degree in political science to see that theese things are logical.

Note however that I say INCENTIVE. There is nothing absolute here and there are other approaches to maximising profit that might be tried first. However, I believe it's logical to assume that eventually one competitor will take any of the said approaches, and if you want to keep up with the competition you will too.
