Ben Brockert is the CEO of Able Space Corporation, a Denver company focused on mechanical and aerospace consulting. He previously worked at Armadillo Aerospace and Masten Space Systems, where he ran the operations that won $1.125M in the NASA Centennial Challenge for vertical takeoff/vertical landing autonomous rockets, the Northrop Grumman Lunar Lander Challenge.

Early life

Brockert was born in southeast Iowa on December 8, 1981. He graduated Mediapolis High School in three and a half years, and went on to Iowa State University to study computer engineering. While at Iowa State he was a member, and later leader of, the Iowa State Space Society (ISSS). He served as Astronomy Chair, and then Vice President[1]. Brockert was part of the small group that attended the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) conference SpaceVision 2005 at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and decided to have ISSS join SEDS. He then served one term as the Vice Chair of SEDS, and was awarded "Member of the Year" at SpaceVision in 2006 at the University of Central Florida.
