The action of 26 July 1747, or the Martinique vs. HMS Squierrel, was a single-ship action fought between a frigate of the French Navy and a barque-frigate from the Royal Navy during the War of Austrian Succession. In the battle the French Frigate Martinique engaged in a short ranged gunnery duel with the British ship HMS Squirrel. During the engagement the French ship managed dismast the British ship and moved to board, however the British ship struck her colors (surrendered) before the French ship could close the distance. HMS Squirrel would be taken as a prize and renamed Nymphe.
