Jakey Double. A Jakey Double is a drink made up of 70ml (a double measure) of vodka poured into a pint glass, then topped up with soda water. Origin. This drink was invented and named by Michael Alfer in March 2017, a regular patron of Allan Glen's Rugby Club, in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. History. In an attempt to continue drinking alcohol while following a Keto diet, Michael was ordering a vodka with soda water during a regular Sunday visit to the Club bar. While taking the order, the barman suggest that a double measure of the "house" vodka, was only 10p dearer than a single measure of the more popular Smirnoff vodka. After commenting, "was the cheap house vodka not just for Jakey's?", and the barman answering "not really". The order was made, and the drink was created and bought for the first time. Henceforth, the double (House) vodka in a pint glass topped up with soda water was to be known as A Jakey Double.
