The H3 Podcast was created by Ethan Klein and Hila Klein of H3h3Productions. It was made on 8 April, 2017[1] and the first episode published on the channel featured the creator of Rick and Morty Justin Roiland. In the beginning, the H3 Podcast were simple interviews with fellow youtubers; it expanded slowly, recruiting more of the cast (such as Zach and Ab). On top of this, they began to offer a unique podcast experience, creating much beloved mini-series' such as H3 After Dark and the Frenemies Podcast.

Ethan Edward Klein was born on June 24, 1985 in Ventura, California, to an Ashkenazi Jewish family. His parents are Gary and Donna Klein, and he attended Buena High School.[2] Ethan studied at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2004 to 2009, and he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature.[3] His paternal grandfather was Leonard Katzman, the showrunner of the soap opera Dallas.[citation needed] He worked as a marketing executive in Israel.[citation needed]

Hila Klein (née Hakmon, Hebrew: הילה חכמון) was born on December 12, 1987 in Holon, Israel, to a Sephardic Jewish family. Her father is of Libyan-Jewish descent, whereas mother is of Turkish-Jewish descent.[4] Hila served as a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces for two years. During her military service, she met Ethan Klein in 2007 while he was visiting the Holocaust Yad Vashem Museum in Jerusalem at the time on his Birthright Israel trip.[5] She then attended the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel, but did not complete her studies.[6] Hila became a naturalized U.S. citizen in September 2019.[7]

After several years together, the couple married on October 12, 2012. During the early years of the channel, the couple lived together in Israel, in the Florentin neighborhood of Tel Aviv.[8] In April 2015, the Kleins moved to the United States,[9] first living in Los Angeles[10] then moving to New York City in September 2015[11] and later back to Los Angeles in August 2016.[12] They are secular Jews.[13]

Main H3 Podcast

[edit]

The H3 Podcast channel was registered by the Kleins on April 8, 2017,[14] on which they upload recordings of their tri-weekly podcast.

H3 After Dark

[edit]

H3 After Dark is a sub-series on the H3 Podcast. It is broadcasted live from the basement of the Klein family and is described as an "uncensored" version of the main H3 Podcast.

Frenemies

[edit]

The Frenemies Podcast is a very unique mixture of two controversial YouTubers — Ethan Klein and Trisha Paytas. It was made possible by recent interactions with Trisha Paytas, who participated in a one-time show called "The BacH3lorette". As suggested by the title, the two creators were friendly rivals, and this would be demonstrated through the course of the podcast.

The first episode of Frenemies was titled "Trisha's New Boyfriend Is Hila's Brother". Because of the interactions between h3h3 and Trisha, Trisha Paytas found love with the brother of Hila Klein, Moses Hacmon and as of 18 December[15], the two are engaged.
