Consensus can be wrong. Edwin Hubble
- He discovered (1929) that v (velocity) = H (Hubble constant) x d (distance). But Georges Lemaître publicized it 1927, much later Hubble could have told that the priority belonged to Lemaître. Lemaître told that he used Vesto Slipher's velocities, Hubble didn't. Lemaître believed in an expanding universe, Hubble didn't. Hubble classified the galaxies (1926), his correspondence cites the work of John Reynolds (astronomer), but his publications don't cite Reynolds.

Many extinction events are related to marine regressions and flood basalts.
