Hallo! My name is Mike Van der Brug, aka Coffinfly. I am an entomologist, a palaeontologist and, to some extent, a biostratigrapher. I also have a deep interest in scholarly publishing and Open Access. At the moment, I am professionally linked to the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History and I also was or is involved (in various capacities) in the production of African Invertebrates, Culna (published by the Nasionale Museum), European Journal of Taxonomy, Israel Journal of Entomology, Indago (formerly Navorsinge van die Nasionale Museum), Journal of Management & Administration, South African Journal of Science, and Southern African Humanities. I have numerous friends and colleagues in almost all major museums world-wide, as well as in the Council for Geoscience, Geological Survey of Israel, Paleontological Research Institution, University of KwaZulu-Natal and other government and non-government organisations.

I have been creating/editing (and (will) continue to do so) articles on entomology, palaeontology, biostratigraphy, higher education, artificial intelligence, scholarly publishing, but also contribute to other projects on Wikipedia and Wikispecies when I feel I can add my two cents. Yes, I am duly influenced by my connection to these topics, because they are of interest to me and I know a great deal (OK, something) about them, and I will continue contributing in these fields in the neutral and unbiased tone, supporting my contributions with relevant links. I am NOT paid for my contributions to Wikipedia or any other Wiki project (for what I am paid is nobody's business, save for the tax authorities).
