Brief Biographical Information

[edit]

I'm an inhabitant of the town of Matawan, New Jersey. Since I was born in 1988, I have pursued a variety of educational oppurtunties, attending both the public school system, an experimental alternative high school, and even the local community college (as part of a program of enrolling under-aged students).

Interests

[edit]

I have a wide variety of interests, especially politics, philosophy, mysticism, certain branches of science (such as theoretical physics), and writing.

Political Views

[edit]

My basic belief is that when all human beings are born into this world they should be born on as level a playing field as possible. The priveleged should not have the monopoly to crowd out the voices, oppurtunities, and hopes of those who just happened to have been born to unfavorable circumstances. In other words, "all human beings are created equal." Everyone is innately equal, but unfortunately, some have taken advantage of their more priveleged backgrounds to establish political, economic, and social supremacy over others, creating a fundamentally unfair society. This is no new problem: humanity has been struggling with societal stratification and the resulting poverty for thousands of years. I'm a strong advocate of libertarian socialism.

However, it has become apparent to me that the policies of the present administration have made the situation much worse. The gap between the rich and the poor is wider than ever in this country, as wasteful tax cuts targeted to the top 2% drain away our budget and have turned a surplus into a defecit (something that will have far-reaching economic consequences). Meanwhile, I believe that the present government has taken a fundamentally wrong approach in the Middle East (to explain my full thoughts on that issue would take far too long for this page).

Philosophical Views

[edit]

As for my general world-view, I maintain a general skepticism for any particular system of how the world works, especially towards systems that claim to be the one and only truth (both fundamentalist religion and much of modern science would fall into that category). I believe that the only thing we know for sure is that we can't know anything for sure (then again, I'm not sure if I even know that). I could be considered a type of model agnostic.
