Introduction[edit]
My name is Carolyn and I'm a student at the University of Guelph. I'm majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Computer Science and will be going into the fourth and final year of my undergraduate degree in the fall. Cis 2050 was recommended to me by a friend who took the course last year and I'm looking forward to working with everyone in it!
Personal Life[edit]
Despite being born in Toronto, I spent most of my childhood in Kingston Ontario, before moving to Guelph in the summer of 2000. I've been here ever since. Last summer I had one of, in my opinions, the best summer jobs ever. I was a member of Roots Among the Rocks, a theatre collective, where we gathered stories about church and faith from over 70 people and then turned them into a play with the same name which we then toured across the country.[1] Not only did I get to do something I loved (act), but I also got to tour Canada and meet tons of fantastic people, all while getting paid!
Education and Academic Career[edit]
During high school, I went to John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute, which I graduated from in 2008. From there, I went on to the University of Guelph where I'm currently working towards an HBSc. in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. I'm on pace to graduate at the end of the winter semester of 2012.
Hobbies[edit]
I have many hobbies, and enjoy a myriad of activities, several of which are listed below:
- practicing Kendo with the University of Guelph Kendo Club
- playing trumpet with the Guelph Concert Band, which was first started in 1878[2]
- acting
- watching/reading various movies, television shows and books.

- Doctor Who (old and new)
- The Discworld Series by Terry Pratchet
- Classic movies (I frequently like watching the Turner Classic Movies channel)
