Greetings! I'm DeviceGuru, and located in Silicon Valley. I've been a digital electronics fanatic since 1978, when I programmed a KIM-1 microcomputer [1] to automate weather data printouts for the NOAH weather station, as a Masters thesis in grad school. While a grad student, I also designed, wire-wrapped, and wrote the machine language monitor for a homebrew 8080 microcomputer [2] that was controlled via a hex keypad and 7-segment display. After grad school, I designed plug-in cards for microcomputers and eventually formed a company [3] to create and market one of the earliest truly embeddable single board computers (SBCs). Eventually I learned of the tremendous potential for using Linux as an embedded OS, which inspired me to transition to publishing websites [4],[5],[6] focused on the combination of open-source software with open-spec hardware.
