From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi! If you have time, could you please have a look into this? Your comments will be highly appreciated in this peer review. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:38, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for your interest. Yes, the lead looks small compared to the body of the article. You are welcome to suggest/do the expansion. However, on reading the lead, to me, it seems major points have been summarized precisely (plot, production, casting, reception, theme, legacy). Of course, more information may be added in the lead, but technically it does cover different aspects in minimum details.--Dwaipayan (talk) 21:56, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

TFA

Well, the "Victorian menace" has made it. A great day. Thank you again - he would not have done so without your efforts. All the very best. KJP1 (talk) 06:42, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to William Burges, an example of spirited collaboration, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:50, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks both!! Great to see it again!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:40, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Dear Dr B - As Burges ends his day in the sun, with only one serious suggestion for improvement, I did want to say thank you. I have adored his work for thirty years and, finding Wikipedia, aspired to take him to B Class. You made him TFA. Thank you, and all the best with all that you do here. We both did!! I'd love to get Cardiff Castle to FA status sometime if you're interested.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:49, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Balidhidin District

[edit]

Hi Dr. Blofeld, You created this article in 2010. I have serious doubt however that this District exists at all. You give no references and Geonames.org (with more than 17.000 geographical names in Somalia alone) does not know this name. It has no equivalent article in the SO-Wikipedia. The Bari-article in the EN-Wikipedia gives a detailed account of the districts within Bari region, but makes no mention of Balidhidin. So please provide a clear 'proof' that this district exists. Thanks! Loranchet (talk) 11:16, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Bareeda District

[edit]

Hi Dr. Blofeld, You created this article in 2010. I have serious doubt however that this District exists at all. You give no references and Geonames.org (with more than 17.000 geographical names in Somalia alone) knows this name only as a village, not a District. It has no equivalent article in the SO-Wikipedia. The Bari-article in the EN-Wikipedia gives a detailed account of the districts within Bari region, but makes no mention of Bareeda. So please provide a clear 'proof' that this district exists. Thanks! Loranchet (talk) 16:18, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Film

[edit]

I have not seen it, no, but I'm aware of it. I'd like to see it sometime. Especially given that cast - I suspect they'd do quite well by it.

That being said, Shrew is one of the Shakespeare plays that I don't know so well. I never studied it, for one thing. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:58, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

My mother once said that Richard Burton was a great actor who never found himself a great film in which to star. There's some truth in that, though I don't completely agree with it. (Virginia Woolf, for one thing. That's not as powerful as the play, but taken on its own merits I'd say it's a pretty fine piece of work. And I have a soft spot for Becket, which I watched in middle school. And I love Peter O'Toole.) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:21, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm sorry to say, but I really agree with that assessment as well. A lot of his work is just schlocky.
What do you think about Montgomery Clift? --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:31, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
A bit wet? Perhaps. But he did some very fine work - I'm partial to Suddenly, Last Summer, which is far, far better than I expected Tennessee Williams to be. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:40, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Oh, he was never an alpha male. But he was smart enough to pick parts that required something else. That said, I don't like him in The Heiress at all, but that's the fault of many people; the novel on which it's based is much better. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:50, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
I love Cary Grant. Henry Fonda I'm not so wild about, honestly - he's wrong for War and Peace, and I just watched Hitchcock's The Wrong Man the other night and didn't care for him at all. William Powell I love, and Claudette Colbert - but I'm a Preston Sturgis kind of guy to begin with. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:53, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
I do wish Hitchcock had gone with his instincts in Suspicion, rather than bow to audience pressure. The ending always felt a little flat to me, and I know he had something different in mind. (I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it.) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:57, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
12 Angry Men is a masterpiece, I agree, but then the part suits him. Fonda is very good in parts which suit him well, but he can be miscast in others. Like as Pierre Bezukhov; he's completely wrong for the milieu. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 23:06, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Good Lord. I didn't even know she'd made a version of Ivanhoe.
I missed the earlier question - yes, I have seen, and love, Life With Father. One of my favorite films, I think. Are you at all familiar with the TV series Adam-12? --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:46, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
The Robe? Is that the one with Victor Mature? I've never seen it...but then, my gold standard is Ben-Hur. Speaking of which...I love Hugh Griffiths. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:14, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
I'm not really that familiar with Douglas' work. Sword-and-sandal really isn't my thing, either; I love Ben-Hur in part because I love the source material. (It's an interesting novel...I highly recommend it, if you've never had the chance to read it.) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 18:07, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Santa Maria de Cóll

[edit]

I've been looking at Santa Maria de Cóll but I can't understand why you think it's a monastery. As far as I can see, it's just a church. Have you a source?--Ipigott (talk) 15:36, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

That just means it belonged to a monastery but if you look at the Catalan, it says it is not certain it belonged to a monastery but it was certainly related to Santa Maria d'Alaó (which is a monastery). As far as I can see, there is no evidence of a monastery on the site. Most sources simply treat it as a church. I think we should too unless there is a reliable source to the contrary.--Ipigott (talk) 15:56, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

I think it should be removed from the Catalonian Benedictine monasteries template. The Catalan article includes Santa Maria de Cóll in its template of Benedictine monasteries in the Catalonian section which is why I included Santa Maria in our template. That said, there is no entry for Santa Maria de Cóll in http://www.monestirs.cat, which does have articles on the other Cat Ben monasteries. Lastly, the lede in the cat article does say: "No és segur que pertanyés a un antic monestir benedictí, però sí que se sap que va estar relacionada amb Santa Maria d'Alaó." ("It is uncertain that it belonged to a Benedictine monastery, but it is known that it was connected with Santa Maria Alaó.") I've got to leave for work and it'll probably be another very long day again today or I'd sort this out myself. --Rosiestep (talk) 16:10, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

Oy, tell me about it. I've about given up counting redlinks, there's so much missing. I have a few things in mind I keep meaning to get around to working on, but there's so much categorization etc. that needs doing that I never get around to it. I don't suppose you'd like to try and research a Kazakh composer, would you? --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:33, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Well, that's partially because they're about such well-known subjects. I find that the better-known a subject is, the more people want to jump all over the article and say, "Look what I know about it!". Because it's familiar, basically. That's why they want more taking in hand. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:38, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
Hmm. Impressive. I've never been able to find much about Djibouti online. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:07, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
We've still got a ways to go on some places, though. Like with 2013 Sana'a attack: 52 dead, and that's a pathetic start to the article. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:15, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Image and quotation trouble

[edit]

In Mullum Malarum, I am having trouble finding out how to make this quote a normal sentence:

"I get annoyed watching Hero-heroine dancing for songs mostly the both do same steps. It’s like watching two drunken monkeys dancing. That’s why in ‘Mullum Malarum' I kept music as the background while the screen had lead characters expressing their emotions" — Balu Mahendra, in May 2009.

Do u know what to do? Also, do u know where in the article can this image best fit? ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 05:10, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) As for the image, I think you need to contact Balu's assistant since the image is non-free. Vensatry (Ping me) 07:21, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
Why Balu's assistant? Why not director J. Mahendran himself? Or producer Venu Chettiar? ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 08:41, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

I'd partly word it in your own words and partly quote. How about something like "In a May 2009 interview, Balu Mahendra likened typical Bollywood Hero-heroine dancing to "watching two drunken monkeys dancing", stating that this was the reason that he "kept music as the background while the screen had lead characters expressing their emotions" in the film.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:15, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

If you could contact either Mahendran or Venu Chettiyar, then it's fine. Vensatry (Ping me) 10:41, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Yeah,I don't think you'll won't be able to get away with that image, at least until 2069 anyway :-].♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:45, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Referencing style

[edit]

Hi there! I have a quick question. We're trying to improve the article on The Matrix. As you can see, currently two types of citation are used in the article, full and short. Should we settle on a consistent referencing style? Please take a look at this edit where I replaced a short citation with a full one. Do you think we should replace all of the short citations with full ones? Since you have written a lot of featured and good articles, I thought you're the best person to ask. Nataev talk 04:19, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

I've replaced all of the short citations with full ones. Now there are only full citations in the article. I hope I didn't do this in vain! Nataev talk 09:03, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately your edits have changed what was a perfectly acceptable (and generally well-used) style of referencing for books. See Marrakesh etc. sfn notes for book page and then listing the books in the bibliography at the bottom is the way to go. Web sources of course should be filled out normally though.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:41, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

I also think they looked neat. But isn't it better to use only one type of citation? If you think the previous version was better, maybe I should restore it. Nataev talk 09:49, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
It depends really on how many pages of a given book you use and how many books you use. You don'#t have to use sfn or even page notes and can link the books as you've done. But on a film like The Matrix I'd expect a staggering amount of book coverage and I think if you're really looking to improve it to GA/FA then you'll need to start researching more in books and will find that citing page notes in the sfn style will be more logical. Basically for a film like The Matrix I'd expect a bibliography with at least 10 books used if it is to truly be the best possible article.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:54, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
I see. It looks like that a lot of books (and a lot of pages of the same book) are cited in Marrakesh. In The Matrix, on the other hand, about ten books are cited. What's more important not many pages of a given book are used. Most of the sources cited are are online/electronic sources. I guess for now we can leave the article the way it is. Once we start to use more books we will probably have to use the sfn style. Thank you for all your help! Nataev talk 10:05, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

I'd imagine that The Matrix has a lot of info on things like themes and analysis in books which will be better sources than those online. The info may not be accessible though and only snippets. If you find any decent book sources you can use http://reftag.appspot.com/ to help you draw up citations quicker.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:10, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

OK! It looks like we're going to need some help. Even though the movie is extremely popular, currently very few people are actively editing the article. Nataev talk 10:47, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
Nataev, a recent expansion of mine Msambweni cites all books in one section, but that was mainly because it was compiled using scraps. If it had a lot of multiple citations to the same books then I'd convert to sfn.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:34, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Engano River

[edit]

Ehh, what's up, Doc? I came across Engano River (Itajaí River) and Engano River (Uruguay River) and thought they might be duplicates, but when I noticed you created both in quick succession, I thought I'd ask before I do anything with them. The PDF listed as a reference for each isn't loading for me. Are there really two rivers with the same name in the same part of Brazil? --BDD (talk) 19:29, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

It's possible, Have you looked on the geonames database? If you can't verify them I'll be happy to db-author them.♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:51, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Maybe not. Geonames is giving me two results, though the approved names are Rio Encano and Rio Engano (with Engano as a variant for the former). Maybe I'll leave this to someone who knows better. --BDD (talk) 20:08, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

The one that sprung to mind was Festen, but it turns out to be a hotel, rather than a country house (although there is a picture in the article). I don't know if "country house" is exclusivly an English thing, as that is a Danish film, and a really great film too. Will try to think of some others! Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 13:35, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
The building has its own article, and it states it's a "manor house" and the article for a manor house defines it as a country house... Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 13:41, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Aaaagghhh, can't believe I didn't think of Sunset Boulevard (film)! Amazing film. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 14:33, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

An irrelevant question

[edit]

Hi again! I've been reading the material on your user page. It's great! I have one question though. The second sentence reads:

  • "Going back in history, that we could even begin to envisage something which has the breadth of topics that wikipedia has today in which anybody contribute and make a difference instantly from anywhere with an Internet connection, whether it be John O' Groats or Tuvalu, you'd never think it would be really be possible, or have any success, surely average people couldn't work together for free to produce anything of scholarly worth?"

Shouldn't it be something like:

  • "Going back in history, that we could even begin to envisage something which has the breadth of topics that wikipedia has today in which anybody can contribute and make a difference instantly from anywhere with an Internet connection, whether it be John O' Groats or Tuvalu, you'd never think it would be really be possible, or have any success. Surely average people couldn't work together for free to produce anything of scholarly worth!"

Please don't think I'm nitpicking. I'm just trying to get my head round this. Thanks! Nataev talk 04:21, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

:-] Well spotted! BTW I didn't use sfn for Msambweni because most were only snippets.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:07, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

I think I'll try to add to Chust, Uzbekistan later, do you have any sources on it?♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:12, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I do. I can translate the entry in the National Encyclopedia of Uzbekistan (and in the Uzbek Soviet Encyclopedia if you want :]) about the town into English. I'm sure I can also find much info in Russian. Nataev talk 12:20, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

That would be great! I can try to find something too. Watching a film at the moment though!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:22, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Archives

[edit]

Hi again. On the talk page of the Matrix there are links to three archives, Archive 1, Archive 2, and Archive 3. I just found out that there's another archive, which I think is the oldest. Shouldn't it be called Archive 1? How can we make it show up on the talk page? Thanks! Nataev talk 11:10, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

I merged it into Archive 1.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:22, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Oh, yes. Not only did I see it, it's one of the few films to which I have introduced other people. It contains several of my favorite actors (I love Hugh Griffith in anything he ever did.) Quite an underrated film, I think. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:58, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
She's one of those rare actresses who combined looks with a great deal of talent. And there are a lot of roles she did that one wouldn't expect of her...and she was good in them, too. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 18:11, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
You and my mother both. I do enjoy My Fair Lady, too. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 18:24, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
I haven't seen the whole film, but from what I've seen I do agree - Fonda is no Bezukhov. He's really the only false note - I like everyone else. Including Hepburn; I'm sure there were others who could have done it as well, if not better, but she does a good job of it. It's funny - the Soviets got mad that the Americans beat them to the subject, and made a film in response to it a couple of years later, using all of the major actors of the day, but my mother says the American version was still better-received, and is a better product. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:18, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
He's too rough-hewn for the part. Pierre needs to be a bit more urbane to be believable. And his pursuit of Napoleon isn't driven by ideology, but by madness, and I don't really feel that Fonda conveys that very well. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:23, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

I've never done a GA review. I will do it, but it will take me time to learn the process, learn the subject and give you a response. Thanks for the opportunity. I am flattered to be asked by you. 7&6=thirteen () 18:19, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

LOL....I dont have any agenda, it was your's and Shahid's agenda to only praise Kapoor and Zinta's article......Well, i have provided claims on Kapoor's talk page which clears everything. You have twisted evrything and Bollywood Dreamz stop presentin g everything like a bunch of Gossip and bad mouthing abouT me. I have posted at the Kapoor's talk page which is wrong according to you? Huh.... Blofeld, i dont know why you always suspect me....? I have represented my concerns on the Kapoor's talk anf that is a good thing no? As for Padukone, thatr award....so tell me why there is no FACE OF THE YEAR AWARD now? As for information Balan's list also had that award but, the truth is that that award is the same as Debut award and Chopra, Balan, Padukone, Kngna Ranaut, Ayesha Takia were presented the same award twice but, there is no media cooverage of those awards. I'm following Filmfares from 2002 and dude every actress (debut) from 2002-2008 were presented that Face of the year but, there is actually no award like that....okay. If there was then why there is no proof of that in media.—Prashant 05:59, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Congratulations on your successful FAC! You (and a whole host of others) worked very hard on improving it and making it ready. I'm sorry that I came in at the 11th hour with a ton of issues—it would have been better if I'd participated earlier. Still, I hope the article is better for my review, and I thank you for your prompt attention to the concerns I raised. I'll go through and standardize the serial commas (and perhaps some other comma usage as well), since I think that's important for MoS compliance. Anyway, congratulations again, and I hope you enjoy Christmas if that's your thing, and enjoy your week if not. All the best, Quadell (talk) 01:57, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Yaaaaaay, congrats for mughal e Azam! Thanks a lot. I often thought to ask you, but never did actually! Regards, --Dwaipayan (talk) 05:48, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks! Phew that was a close call! Why am I interested in Indian films? I'm not especially, I'm a general major film buff and keep my eyes open to world films. My interest in Bollywood began when I created the world film lists and I saw a surprising dedication to helping expand them by the likes of Shshshsh and Pa7 and the great work they were doing. Admittedly most Bollywood films I've seen have been a bit too sugary/melodramatic for my taste and I don't get the frequent need for the song and dance in sometimes bizarre situations but I've still enjoyed a fair few Indian films, especially the Apu trilogy. I'll try to get to Panther over the Christmas period. If you really want to know why I've been involved with so much work getting Indian films/actors to FA, it's because of the passion of you guys. It's editors like you, Bollyjeff, Krimuk, Kailash, Jion and even Prashant when he stops being a petty idiot who do most of the work on them and I often see potential in getting them to FA. the classic Indians films in particular I consider as important as the classic Hollywood films in view of page views and status in Asia in terms of numbers and I'm glad to see there's been a movement by you and Jeff to try to get them up to FA. Next I'd imagine will be Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! for Bollywood.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:05, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

I was surprised to see that you started Chhote Sarkar (1996 film) :) and I was particularly amused by the edit summary of the article creation edit.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:32, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

Merry Christmas!

[edit]

Merry Christmas! I just realised that I never answered the comment you left on my talk page around the time when Chaplin was promoted to GA – sorry about that, it's been a hectic autumn! Anyway, I don't know yet what will be my next WP project. I've been thinking about rewriting Barbara Stanwyck's page for a long time, as I have thoroughly enjoyed all her work that I've seen so far and admire the way she could convincingly act in different genres. I also think she often gets overshadowed by the stars who had stronger public images in a sense (but were perhaps also more easily typecast) and have therefore had more longevity, like Bette Davis, Joan Crawford and Katherine Hepburn – all of whom have excellent pages here in WP as well. Mary Pickford is another legend who I think deserves a better article – in general, I think it would be interesting to work more on articles about silent film. The problem with both Stanwyck and Pickford is that material about them is not as readily available as on Chaplin, and as a student I am not sure I can justify spending loads of money on buying books and films. With Chaplin I've managed to not buy any books but have just borrowed them from different libraries.

Over the summer I also already started improving James Thierrée's page, although so far all my work is still in my sandbox – I saw a performance by him last summer and was completely blown away, it was a magical experience. He is certainly not someone who's simply riding on his grandfather's fame (something that unfortunately cannot be said for all Chaplin grandkids...). Your idea of improving all Chaplin film articles is also something I'd definitely be interested in taking part in! TrueHeartSusie3 (talk) 11:30, 24 December 2013 (UTC)TrueHeartSusie3

Chopin

[edit]

Thnaks for your message! I'm more or less done with the article for the while, if you want to take a look at it now. Really I'm not such a Chopin maven, it is just the article was originally in a deplorable state. Editing it is no easy task as one has to cope with other editors who sometimes seem more concerned with Polish nationalism or other WP:UNDUE aspects. Still I have the intention of getting it up to at least GA in the medium term. Apart from any other failings, at the moment I think it needs more on the actual music, on recordings and maybe legacy (recent Chopin pianists etc.). Possibly also something on C's personality. Best, and all good wishes for 2014, --Smerus (talk) 09:58, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi doctor, this might sound crazy, but I'm letting you know that I'm interested in getting Bentworth up to an FA standard and hopefully to nominate in some good time. I've been thinking about it for a while now, and I'm just giving you a 'heads-up' to let you know what you think about this. I've never actually fully built up an article to FA before (but I do only have one major contribution to an FA article). Hi Dr. , Can i know, do you have created all your articles manually or with a bot? --XXN (talk) 14:28, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure why I was mentioned, I've never used a bot in my life on here and I generally don't approve of very short stubs without any TLC any longer on here. Sometimes a bot used to create articles with sufficient sourcing and info can be useful but I'm not a coder. I'm asking for clarification of whether you should be able to breach ArbCom's remedy in the infobox case, requiring editors to maintain decorum and civility when engaged in discussions about infoboxes. --RexxS (talk) 22:42, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

RexxS, I'm sick to death of logging into this website and seeing people like you forcing infoboxes and then brandishing civility policies at editors who work in good faith here and disagree with you. Infobox pushers act like little leaches eating away at the website and the enthusiasm of contributors here. Infoboxes are NOT compulsory and this was decided by Arb here. I have no problems, in fact I support infoboxes where they contain a wealth of information, whether it be buildings, sportspeople or aircraft or settlements and I think they're to be advised on things like that where a lot of facts are best represented in a table/box. What I detest is infobox pushers where the infobox is virtually redundant and contains nothing other than the name and date of birth and occupation which is all mentioned in the lead and the people who've bothered to promote it to GA/FA have decided they don't want one and it looks better without it. Your summary adding the box implying a virtually empty box is full of useful facts for mobile readers is simply false. Quite frankly I've had more than my fair share of infobox disputes and I do NOT want to see a repeat of Peter Sellers. I strongly suggest you read the "Obsession with infoboxes" section on my user page and do something useful instead.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:34, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Your patience, my dear Doctor, is admirable. I got so worn down by what I saw as the bullying and deliberate deafness of certain info-box zealots that I was driven to have several months away from editing Wikipedia. I hope most fervently that you will not be browbeaten into a similar withdrawal. As to your civility, I have many, many reasons to know it and be grateful. Not so sure about decorum. Isn't that what one does to apples? Tim riley (talk) 21:28, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks Tim, I really appreciate it. And if I really said what I think on the matter I would be banned pretty quickly!... If I've been uncivil it's nothing to what could be said. It's the way one article after the other gradually becomes a warground for infobox disputes and the time wasting which follows which I find utterly frustrating and when I log in and see people forcing infoboxes going against consensus claiming they're of great use do people really expect me to welcome it in a friendly fashion? It really is maddening to see articles in which multiple article writers agree on no infobox and having somebody who constributed nothing to the article coming along and forcing on infobox on it. William Burges now has an infobox, do any of us who worked on it want it, nope... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:34, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Just glancing at it I think it's OK, but other editors often have rather different ideas on what qualifies as "brilliant, engaging prose". Eric usually does a great job and gets the prose up to scratch. If there are still complaints I'll give it another read and ask some others to look at it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:01, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the opinion! Incidentally, two of the reviewers who lent their supports are native speakers of English. Today the nom was about to be archived following a different opinion. Vensatry (Ping me) 08:08, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

given we're talking about prose then....

Do you reckon Perseus (constellation) is smoother now? These listy type ones can be real bastards to massage prosewise..... We've renominated Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 09:11, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Yeah I agree. Those articles which tend to be "listy" and cram in a lot of subjects can really affect the quality of the reading and it's difficult to make "brilliant and engaging"! I'll look at Perseus later on today, glad to see that people persisted with it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:17, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

The Design/Features/Layout section is a huge run-on. Do you want to make the writing crisper? --Rosiestep (talk) 01:26, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Or 1908, as I'm going back to classic Lugnuts silent-cinema mode. Looks like my Italian and French cousins have pretty much completed the missing articles in their respective languages, so got to address the balance in the English-speaking world! Have a great 2014, Dr B. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 14:55, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
