Bibliography[edit]

This is where you will compile the bibliography for your Wikipedia assignment. Add the name and/or notes about what each source covers, then use the "Cite" button to generate the citation for that source.

  • Example: Luke, Learie. 2007. Identity and secession in the Caribbean: Tobago versus Trinidad, 1889–1980.[1]
    • This is a book published by a university press, so it should be a reliable source. It also covers the topic in some depth, so it's helpful in establishing notability.
  • Example: Galeano, Gloria; Bernal, Rodrigo (2013-11-08). "Sabinaria , a new genus of palms (Cryosophileae, Coryphoideae, Arecaceae) from the Colombia-Panama border". Phytotaxa.[2]
    • This is a peer-reviewed scientific journal, so it should be a reliable source. It covers the topic in some depth, so it's helpful in establishing notability.
  • Example: Baker, William J.; Dransfield, John (2016). "Beyond Genera Palmarum: progress and prospects in palm systematics". Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society.[3]
    • This is a peer-reviewed scientific journal, so it should be a reliable source for a specific fact. Since it only dedicates a few sentences to the topic, it can't be used to establish notability.
  • "Field Recording". www.sfu.ca. Retrieved 2022-04-15.[4]
    • This section about field recordings is from a handbook for acoustic ecology published by Cambridge Street Publishing (2020), for the Simon Fraser University, so it should be reliable. It has a lot of technical information that can be useful, but need to be careful in going too far off of the subject at hand.
  • "Choosing recording gear". Retrieved 2022-04-15.[5]
    • This belongs to Macaulay Library which is supported by Google and the National Science Foundation, so it is definitely reliable. It contains mostly useful information about gear, but has some on audio tutorials, recording apps, recording tips, etc. All of which have the potential to be very useful information.
  • Gallagher, Michael (2015-06). "Field recording and the sounding of spaces". Environment and Planning D: Society and Space. 33 (3): 560–576. doi:10.1177/0263775815594310. ISSN 0263-7758.[6]
    • I have only skimmed through this journal about field recordings, but it has some useful information on the definition of the term, general information around it, and some useful history.
  • author., Akiyama, Mitchell,. The phonographic memory : a history of sound recording in the field.[7]
    • This thesis about the history of sound recording in the field is extremely long, but does seem to at least contain some relevant (?) information regarding Murray Schafer (he is already mentioned on the wiki page, so could bolster some information there), the World Sound Project, and field recordings. Not sure how much is useful.
  • [insert some source about the application or modern information about field recordings, it is tough trying to find relevant and reliable sources for a semi-niche subject]
  • "Music Industry Career Roles - Berklee Online". online.berklee.edu. Retrieved 2022-04-15.[8]
    • Contains useful information about being a field recordist, career expectations, etc.
