Tymofiy Muzychuk (in Ukranian, Тимофій Музичук) (born February 6, 1993) is a Ukranianmulti-instrumentist and vocalist, mainly known for being a member of folk/rap group Kalush Orchestra and winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

Biography[edit]

Tymofiy Muzychuk was born on February 6, 1993 in the village of [[Pisochne, Kovel Raion, Volyn Oblast, into a musical family: his mother was a folk music teacher and taught him to play traditional instruments, while his grandmother was the director of the village folk group in her youth.

From 2010 to 2012 he worked as a teacher at the State Music School in Hirka Polinka.

Since 2015 he has been working as a teacher at the Kyiv's Children's and Youth Palace.

Education[edit]

In 2012 he graduated from the Professional School of Culture and Arts of Volyn with a degree in Folk Instruments.

In 2017 he graduated from the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts with a Bachelor's degree in Folklore.

Eurovision Song Contest 2022[edit]

On May 14, 2022, Muzychuk, as a member of the group Kalush Orchestra, won the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Stefania". He provided the main vocals for the song, as well as the melody for the chorus, consisting of the notes of his telenka, a type of traditional Ukrainian flute.

Family[edit]

His mother, Svetlana, is a folk music teacher, while his younger brother, Nazar, is in the military. The latter is currently fighting in the war against Russia.
