Crew B is interested in exploring femininity in Hip Hop. Different from the Hip Hop feminism page because we will explore various forms of feminine expression through the three different hip hop platforms while also examining femininity through all bodies; female, trans, and feminine male bodies and artists. We find this especially important because femininity does not specifically attach itself to the female form as demonstrated with artists like Big Freedia. We will also explore the connection between artist femininity and the sexualization of the female body and how the two intersect and play off each other. We will use different artists, mainstream and underground, like MIA, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot, Jennifer Lopez, and even Beyonce, to show how each artist demonstrates femininity in their own unique, specific way. The great thing with this topic is that it also allows us to link to other pages because of all the sources and topics that are intertwined when discussing femininity expression in hip hop.
