The SPECTRONIC 200 (SPEC 200) is an array-detector based stand-alone spectrometer developed and sold by Thermo Fisher Scientific under the Thermo Scientific brand. It was launched in August of 2010 as a replacement for the SPECTRONIC 20.

SPECTRONIC 200 is a relatively low cost (<US$2000) visible spectrophotometer with a measurement range of 340nm to 1000nm. It's design differs from its predecessor, the SPECTRONIC 20, in its use of a spectrograph with a 2048 pixel CMOS detector which allows all wavelengths to be measured simultaneously. This capability is used in the SPEC 200 to support a full wavelength scanning mode and a concurrent multi-wavelength measurement mode. The instrument is equipped with a 320x240 pixel color TFT monitor for control menu and data display. The onboard software also supports quantitative analysis (concentration measurements) with up to four standards (a single standard is typical for this level of instrument) and a programmable analyzer mode. The blank measurement is also made at all wavelengths meaning that users can measure at any wavelength after zeroing the instrument once, without having to re-zero after changing the measurement as they did with the old SPEC 20.

SPEC 200 uses a large sample compartment that accommodates both test tubes and square cuvettes. It can be removed and washed in the event of a spill. Other unusual features of the instrument include rubber feet on the back surface to allow the user to stack instruments on a shelf like books and wings on either side that cover compartments designed to hold cuvette racks. The screen tilts to be visible from any angle and the instrument can work with the lid open to accommodate tall test-tubes because of the room light resistance that is characteristic of spectrograph based spectrophotometers.
