Regarding Page Protection

As the author of a Wikipedia article on Ostad Elahi (born Nur Ali Elahi, September 11, 1895 – October 19, 1974), a contemporary Persian philosopher, jurist, and musician, I’d like to request full protection in an escalating situation involving a user who is only identified by an IP address. Since early 2007, this user has made several reversions to the article and the Discussion page, without any supporting references, on the sole basis that the article should be identified under Ostad Elahi’s birth name of “Nur Ali Elahi” and not “Ostad Elahi,” the honorific by which he is most widely known today. The birth name, incidentally, is prominently listed in the first sentence of the article.

Each time such a reversion has occurred, I have set forth the various reasons why the article should be identified under the name of “Ostad Elahi,” including the fact that he was referred to as Ostad Elahi both during his lifetime and posthumously, and that doing so greatly facilitates anyone seeking to learn more about the life and work of this individual, since all of the books (including the translations of his books into English and French), articles, CDs, websites, and even foundations dedicated to expounding upon his personality and philosophy are listed under the name Ostad Elahi. All of these sources have been carefully corroborated by numerous references throughout the article and discssion page.

In response to the reversion on October 12, 2007, two new substantive sections, with references, were added to the article on Ostad Elahi’s “Music” and his “Centennial Commemoration,” both of which are wholly unrelated to this unidentified user’s contention that the article should be named “Nur Ali Elahi.” A comprehensive response was also posted on the discussion page, complete with references, as to why the article is, and should remain, under the name of Ostad Elahi, and my deleted postings by this user on the discussion page addressing this same issue were re-posted.

On November 4, 2007, it is believed that this same unidentified user (albeit under the guise of the username PersianHistory2008, who not surprisingly has no prior contributions anywhere on Wikipedia), once again reverted the entire article to an older version using an identical writing style and tone on the discussion page and making precisely the same claims as those of the “anonymous” user (68.175.71.240). In doing so, the user deleted two new sections on Ostad Elahi’s “Music” and “Centennial,” as well as all 20-plus references corroborating the statements made in the article, without providing any a single reason or justification. This is unacceptable and should not be permitted.

Thus, to protect the integrity of this article and to facilitate interested individuals seeking to learn more about the personality, life, and philosophy of Ostad Elahi, it is respectfully requested that some form of full or other page protection be implemented for as long as necessary to prevent these detrimental and groundless reversions.

I am absolutely not the same user as 68.176...., but even if I was he/she has done nothing wrong. You have deleted many other peoples writings from the discussion board. That is stickily against Wikipedia policy! You can get suspended for that...--Persianhistory2008 07:42, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Recent Changes by Octavian history

I’m once again asking help from Wiki administrators in regards to the Nur Ali Elahi article. Octavian history, who recently began using this account name instead of Persian history after archiving all of the past history and information related to Persian History in a poorly veiled attempt to conceal all the different sockpuppet banners that were posted on that account, has repeatedly been disrupting and vandalizing this article while ironically accusing others of doing so.

It is clear from this user’s edits that his/her motive is not to improve or expand this article but only to disagree with other people and to undo the work of others. I’ve explained this further on the Nur Ali Elahi Discussion Page.
